Common use of Special Time Off at Christmas Clause in Contracts

Special Time Off at Christmas. Time off will be granted to full-year employees on the days preceding or following Christmas as indicated below according to the day of the week on which Christmas is legally observed. Christmas Observed On Time Off Monday ½ day on preceding Friday Tuesday 1 day: preceding Monday Wednesday 1 day: preceding Tuesday Thursday 1 day: following Friday Friday 1 day: preceding Thursday Saturday 1 day: preceding Friday Under unusual conditions the College may provide such time off on other days than as specified above in a particular year, provided that written notice thereof is given to the Union on or before December 1 of such year. Each such employee will receive his/her straight-time pay for his/her regularly scheduled hours (not including any overtime hours) which he/she would otherwise have worked except for such time off. If such employee is required to work during such time-off period in order to continue essential services or provide for emergency needs, he/she shall be paid for such hours actually worked at straight-time, in addition to the time-off pay provided in the preceding sentence.
