Common use of Study Leave Clause in Contracts

Study Leave. (a) Teachers who apply for and may be awarded study leave as part of the (i) five full time equivalent study leave positions or (ii) two full time equivalent study leave positions for pursuing studies in te reo Mäori or Mäori immersion learning available nationally each year to area schools shall be granted leave on pay for the period of the study. (b) Employers may approve leave without pay for pre-examination study and leave on pay for time spent sitting examinations, plus necessary travelling time. (c) The employer may grant leave on pay to teachers who are awarded scholarships and fellowships for the duration of the agreement, plus reasonable travelling time.
