Supervision Time. (a) Supervision time shall be defined as the time teachers are assigned to supervise students outside of the three hundred (300) minutes instructional day. The instructional day shall be three hundred (300) minutes commencing with the start of opening exercises or the start of instruction, whichever comes first, and ending with the students’ dismissal from school for the day exclusive of lunch, nutrition breaks, and recess break(s). (b) Supervisory duties include assigned duties such as yard duty, hall duty, bus duty, lunchroom duty, and any other scheduled supervisory duties at any of the following times: (i) Before the beginning of opening exercises in the morning or the beginning of instruction, whichever comes first. (ii) During lunch, nutrition, or recess breaks. (iii) After school following the dismissal of students and beyond the three hundred (300) minute instructional day. (c) Provided that student safety is protected, and subject to there being no additional cost to the Board or the Government, the Board shall implement the following provisions respecting supervision schedules: (i) effective September 1, 2005, make every reasonable effort to limit the supervision time assigned to teachers to one-hundred (100) minutes for each period of five (5) instructional days; (ii) effective September 1, 2006, limit the supervision time assigned to teachers to one-hundred (100) minutes for each period of five (5) instructional days; (iii) effective September 1, 2006, make every reasonable effort to limit the supervision time assigned to teachers to eighty (80) minutes for each period of five (5) instructional days; and (iv) No teacher shall be required to perform supervision duties in excess of the amount of supervision duties that the teacher was required to perform as of March 1, 2005 unless the teacher’s assignment or worksite is modified or changed. In the event of such modification or change, the teacher’s supervision time shall be equal to the supervision time required of other teachers in the same school who perform equivalent assignments. If there is no such modification or change, each teacher shall continue to be required to perform the same amount of supervision duties as performed as at March 1, 2005 so long as the amount of such supervision time is less than the amount of supervision time otherwise provided for in this agreement. (d) Teachers on a part-time assignment shall only be required to perform a pro-rated amount of supervision time in accordance with their teaching assignment. (e) A Board/Union Supervision Time Committee shall be established consisting of the Supervisory Officer and the ETFO Provincial representative. (f) The Board/Union Supervision Time Committee will develop supervision guidelines for schools for implementation each September, commencing in 2005. By June 30 ( or a date agreed upon by the parties) of each school year, the School Supervision Time Committee, composed of the Principal and one (1) teacher shall develop and submit a proposed supervision schedule for the following school year to the Board/Union Supervision Time Committee for approval. (g) Where the supervision schedule submitted by the School Supervision Time Committee is not approved by the Board/Union Supervision Time Committee, the Board/Union Committee shall develop a supervision schedule for the school in accordance with (f) above. (h) In the event that there is no Agreement by the School Supervision Time Committee or approval by the Board/Union Supervision Time Committee, the disputed supervision schedule will be in place until a final schedule is agreed upon. (i) In the event the Board/Union Supervision Time Committee is unable to agree upon a supervision schedule for a school or schools prior to June 30 of the relevant school year, the differences between the parties shall be forwarded to the Provincial Stability Commission for final and binding decision in acordance with paragraph (c) above.

In addition, each school shall establish, within 7 days of ratification of this agreement, a local School Supervision Committee made up of teachers and school administration.
(f) 6. The Board/Union Joint Supervision Time Committee will will, no later than 14 days after ratification or by May 15 of each subsequent year, develop supervision guidelines for schools for implementation each September, commencing in 2005. By 21 days after ratification, or by June 30 ( or a date agreed upon by the parties) 15 of each school year, the each school’s School Supervision Time Committee, composed of the Principal and one (1) teacher Committee shall develop create and submit a proposed supervision schedule for the following school year to the Board/Union Joint Supervision Time Committee for approval.
(g) 7. The Joint Supervision Committee will meet to approve the submitted schedules by June 30.
8. Where the supervision schedule submitted by the School Supervision Time Committee is not approved by the Board/Union Joint Supervision Time Committee, the Board/Union :
a) The Joint Supervision Committee shall develop a supervision schedule for implementation according to the school in accordance with (f) schedule and timelines above.
(hb) In the event that there is no Agreement by the School Supervision Time Committee or approval by the Board/Union Supervision Time Committee, the disputed supervision The schedule will be in place until a final schedule is agreed upon.
(i) In the event the Board/Union Supervision Time Committee is unable to agree upon a supervision schedule for a school or schools prior to June 30 of the relevant school year, the differences between the parties shall be forwarded to the Provincial Stability Commission for final and a binding decision in acordance with paragraph (c) abovedecision.

(c) 23.5 Provided that student safety is protected, and subject to there being no additional cost to the Board or the GovernmentBoard, the Board shall implement the following provisions respecting supervision schedules:
(ia) effective September 1, 2005, make every reasonable effort to limit the supervision time assigned to teachers to one-one hundred (100) minutes for each period of five (5) instructional days;
(iib) effective September 1, 2006, limit the supervision time assigned to teachers to one-one hundred (100) minutes for each period of five (5) instructional days;
(iii) effective September 1, 2006, 5)instructional days and make every reasonable effort to limit the supervision time assigned to teachers to eighty (80) minutes for each period of five (5) instructional days; and

23.6 The Board and the Union shall establish during the first week of school, a Joint Supervision Committee consisting of two (2) representatives of the Union and two (2) representatives of the Board.
23.7 By the last day of each school year or other such date as agreed to by the parties, the principal, in consultation with the staff, shall create and submit a proposed supervision schedule for the following school year to the Joint Supervision Committee for approval.
23.8 If there is modified a dispute with respect to the development, implementation, or changed. application of the school supervision schedule, the Joint Supervision Committee shall develop a resolution consistent with the foregoing.
23.9 In the event of such modification or changethat the Joint Supervision Committee is unable to agree on a resolution prior to September 15, the teacher’s supervision time difference between the parties shall be equal submitted to the supervision time required Provincial Stability Commission. (gf) Where The Joint Supervision Committee shall approve the School Supervision Committee proposed supervision schedule if it conforms with the provisions of this Article and the guidelines as established by the Joint Supervision Committee. If the School Supervision Committee cannot agree on a supervision schedule or if there is a dispute with respect to the supervision schedule submitted by at the School Supervision Time Committee is not approved by the Board/Union Supervision Time Committeeschool level, the Board/Union Joint Supervision Committee shall develop a an alternative supervision schedule for which is consistent with the school in accordance with (f) aboveprovisions of this Article and the guidelines as established by the Joint Supervision Committee.

Supervision Time. (a) Supervision For the purpose of the supervision provisions of the Collective Agreement, supervision time shall be defined as the time teachers are a teacher is assigned to supervise students outside of the three hundred (300) minutes instructional day. (b) Effective September, 2005, the Board will make every reasonable effort to provide that no teacher is assigned more than 100 minutes of supervision time for each period of five (5) instructional days, provided that student safety is protected, protected and subject to there being no additional cost to the Board or the Governmentgovernment.

(iv) No teacher shall be required to perform supervision duties in excess of the amount of supervision duties that the teacher was required to perform as of March 1, 2005 unless the teacher’s assignment or worksite is modified or changed. In the event of such modification or change, the teacher’s supervision time shall be equal there being no additional costs to the supervision time required of other teachers in Board or the same school who perform equivalent assignments. By June 30 ( duty immediately before or a date after traveling time unless mutually agreed upon by the parties) of each school year, teacher and the School Supervision Time Committee, composed of the Principal and one (1) teacher shall develop and submit a proposed supervision schedule for the following school year to the Board/Union Supervision Time Committee for approvalPrincipal.
(g) Where the supervision schedule submitted by the School Supervision Time Committee is not approved by the Board/Union Supervision Time Committee, the Board/Union Committee shall develop a supervision schedule for the school in accordance with (f) above.
(h) In the event that there is no Agreement by the School Supervision Time Committee or approval by the Board/Union Supervision Time Committee, the disputed supervision schedule will be in place until a final schedule is agreed upon.

By June 30 ( August 31 (or a date agreed upon by the parties) of each school year, the each In-School Supervision Time Staffing Committee, composed of the Principal teachers and one (1) teacher school administration, shall develop and submit propose a proposed tentative supervision schedule for the following school year to the Board/Union Supervision Time District School Board Staffing Committee for approval. The following process shall be used to determine school supervision schedules or to resolve any dispute or issue related to the achievement or computation of the limits set out in 20.06.02 (b) above. The outcomes of this process are binding on both parties.
