Teacher Librarians. Teacher Librarians are individuals employed by the Muscatine Community School District who are certified teacher librarians by the Iowa State Department of Education.

Teacher Librarians. The Teacher Librarian will continue to manage the library budget. Elementary Teacher Librarians shall be assigned, at each elementary school, up to 26 thirty (30) minute sections in a normal week. When the load reaches 27 sections per week, an itinerant Teacher Librarian will be assigned to the building.
Teacher Librarians. Site administrators, central administrators, and teacher librarians, in consultation with the UBC, are responsible for establishing the schedules for teacher librarians, including adequate transition time between classes. Consideration shall be given to the developmental needs of each grade level taught.
Teacher Librarians. School libraries shall remain closed to in-person students. Teacher librarians shall work in person at school sites and may provide books to students and classrooms by delivering books and materials in such a manner as to maintain the stability of in-person stable groups. Any returned materials shall be cleaned prior to being placed back in circulation. The library shall be closed to in- person meetings, unless cleaned after each use.
Teacher Librarians. The number of FTE Teacher Librarians in the system shall be calculated on the basis of one point six (1.6) Teacher Librarians per one thousand (1 000) FTE students as determined in Article 25.01.
Teacher Librarians. (a) Teacher-Librarians must hold at least or be enrolled in Part I of the Ministry of Education qualifications. To be appointed, Teacher-Librarians should have had at least three (3) years of classroom experience.
(b) Teacher-Librarians will be allocated through guidelines developed by the System Staffing Committee. Teacher-Librarians will be allocated on the basis of enrolment using actual student number, not FTE, according to the following guidelines : 1 - 199 students 0.2 200 - 374 students 0.3 375 - 449 students 0.4 450 - 549 students 0.5 550 + students 0.6 (c) Teacher-Librarians will be allocated, using the Projected Enrolment figures as of March 1. The Board will have the discretion to adjust the appointments according to actual enrolments in September. During the school year, enrolment fluctuations will not change the Teacher-Librarian allocation.
Teacher Librarians. That Teacher Librarian is added to the table currently in Section O (“Structural Matters” p.80) as a “preferred local designation” in the Classroom Teacher classification. That resource management time is guaranteed for Teacher Librarians. Resource management time is additional to non-teaching/release time. It is fundamental to the Teacher Librarian’s role and is essential for management, facilitation and development of the library’s resources. A minimum 7 hours of administrative times (in usable blocks) should be allocated when classes/organised groups are not scheduled with the teacher librarian.
Teacher Librarians. 17A Teacher Librarian Position Defined: The Teacher Librarian position provides services in the areas of 1) teaching and learning and 2) instructional resources.

Staffing for Teacher Librarians shall remain minimally at the District’s 2015-2016 staffing level for the duration of the 2016-2019 agreement. This agreement shall not be construed to grant these positions priority over other certificated staff in the event of a financial condition triggering the provisions of Article IX - Employee Staff, Reduction and Recall. For those who travel one 30 minute class will be scheduled to accommodate travel to each site and counts as a section.
