Certificated Staff Clause Samples
The 'Certificated Staff' clause defines the requirements and expectations for employees who hold valid teaching or professional certificates within an educational institution. Certificated Staff. If an educational program or service in the district is to be reduced, modified, or eliminated, the Superintendent and his staff shall develop a list of Certificated employees to be recommended to the Board of Directors for retention by the District to fill the positions needed to operate the educational program or service. The following criteria shall be applied in the order in which it is listed to the teaching staff and to the administrative and support staff in developing the list of Certificated employees.
Certificated Staff. The Board shall pay the cost of full coverage of medical benefits under the PPO plan for full-time employees and their dependents.

Upon request, a copy of that list will be available to the Association once each year. The following criteria shall be applied, in the order in which they are listed, in developing the list of certificated employees.

Certificated Staff. 1. The work year for certificated unit members shall be defined as one hundred and eighty six (186) days (one hundred and eighty one (181) student school days).
2. Newly hired certificated staff shall work one (1) extra day. This day shall be scheduled by the superintendent during the week preceding the first day of school for students.
3. Certified Unit Members total in school work day shall consist of seven (7) hours inclusive of a forty-five (45) minute duty-free lunch period.
Certificated Staff. For high school and middle school certificated staff, the full workday will consist of 7 hours and 30 minutes per day inclusive of a duty-free lunch time. For elementary school certificated staff, the workday will consist of 7 hours and 5 minutes inclusive of a duty- free lunch period. On Fridays and the workdays preceding a holiday, staff may leave at the end of the student day. A teacher who is at least 0.5 FTE will be scheduled for one daily prep period of at least 30 consecutive minutes during the student day. All newly hired certificated staff will participate in the Newly Hired Staff Academy (“Academy”) between September and June of their first year of employment. The Academy consists of five (5) sessions for one (1) hour each conducted after school hours to support new staff members in training on District platforms, initiatives, specialized programs, or other needs identified by the administration as critical to the staff member’s success.
Certificated Staff a. The objective of the CJUSD Distance Learning Plan is for teachers to focus on essential learning opportunities of their grade level/subject area. For each distance learning lesson, whether it is a lesson reviewing, enriching, or when appropriate, introducing new content, teachers should have a learning goal and may choose to post an essential question (EQ) for the week.
b. Certificated staff should work a professional workday not to exceed their regular 7.25 hours per day (or 8 hour per day if applicable). Start time for certificated staff will be 8:00am and end time will be 3:15pm (8 hour employee end time will be 4:00pm). The current CBA will be followed to include break times, lunches, and prep times.
c. All certificated staff shall not be expected to work outside of their current job descriptions.
d. All certificated staff will be expected to engage with the professional learning modules created to support working in a distance learning environment.
e. Teachers and other certificated staff may be expected to engage in virtual staff meetings, department meetings, and collaboration meetings during distance learning. Staff meetings will not exceed current MOU staff meeting language for the 2019-2020 school year.
f. During distance learning teachers should focus more on formative assessment or common formative assessments created in collaboration with their grade level or subject colleagues.
g. Teachers can customize content to meet the needs of the students in their class(es).
h. Any content teachers make/create/push-out should be asynchronous. That is, it should be available for students to access at different times or on different days.
Certificated Staff. For a period of ten (10) years following the effective date of withdrawal, the withdrawing district shall

Participate in the process to determine the district of assignment for all NSSEO certificated staff with contractual continued service who were employed by NSSEO, or by a member or former member district and NSSEO on a continuous basis, prior to September 23, 1987, and who are honorably dismissed due to a reduction in the number of NSSEO programs or positions; and
2. Accept such staff members for employment as determined by the process to determine the district of assignment. In the event of the dissolution of NSSEO, the withdrawing district shall also participate in the process to determine the district of assignment and accept the employment of a certificated staff member with contractual continued service who was employed by NSSEO, or by a member or former member district and NSSEO on a continuous basis, after July 1, 1987, but before the effective date of withdrawal.
