Common use of Temporary Duty Leave Clause in Contracts

Temporary Duty Leave. Upon the approval of the Superintendent, a teacher may be assigned 46 to be temporarily away from his/her regular duties and/or place of employment for the purpose of 1 performing other educational services, including but not limited to participation in surveys, 2 professional meetings, study courses, workshops, professional organizational meetings, and 3 similar services of direct and long-term benefit to the educational program. Such assignment may 4 be initiated by the principal or other immediate supervisor, the Superintendent or by the individual 5 who desires the temporary duty. Temporary duty, when approved by the Superintendent, shall be 6 with full compensation of salary. Each request for temporary duty shall be filed with the teacher’s 7 principal or other immediate supervisor as early as possible but at least one (1) week in advance 8 of the effective date of the temporary duty. In the event that temporary duty leave is denied, the 9 administrator denying the leave shall provide the reasons for the denial in writing to the teacher at 10 the time of denial.
