Temporary Duty a. Temporary duty leave may be granted by the Superintendent if it is for the benefit of the school or school system, or the professional growth of the employee. b. Temporary duty leave may be initiated by the employee or the Board. If initiated by the Board, the Board shall bear all expenses as provided by Florida Statutes. c. If initiated by the employee, expenses may be borne by the employee or shared with the Board, if mutually agreed upon prior to the taking of the leave. d. Temporary duty leave shall be with full pay for the affected regular duty days of the employee or for any other day if the leave is initiated by the Board and agreed to by the employee. e. Temporary duty may be granted for recognized state/national professional subject area organization meetings.

Temporary Duty. 1. A temporary duty assignment is an assignment with pay for duty at a location other than the regular place of duty. A temporary duty assignment covers attendance at required activities, attendance requested by the Superintendent, or participation as a representative of the school or the school system. Necessary travel time and expenses are included in temporary duty assignment(s). 2. Temporary duty assignment will be granted with pay for the appearance in any legal proceeding connected with the teacher's employment, or with the school system or in any other legal proceeding, such as jury duty, or when subpoenaed to appear before a public body or commission or other legal body if required by the law to attend. Personal litigation not related to a teacher's employment and litigation filed by the teacher against the district are excluded from this provision. This provision does not apply to a teacher who is suspended with pay. 3. An employee released from his subpoena or jury duty with sufficient time remaining to return to his school center to complete at least one half (1/2) day of his duty day shall return to his school center unless released by the principal.
Temporary Duty. Any employee may be assigned to be temporarily absent from his/her regular duties and place of employment for the purpose of performing other M-DCPS services, including participation in school surveys, training meetings, study courses, workshops, etc. Such temporary assignment will be initiated by the supervising administrator. Employees will receive their regular pay and may be allowed expenses, as provided by law and rules of the School Board. Such temporary duty shall be considered equal to the regular duties of the individual, and employees performing such assigned temporary duties shall not be considered to be on leave. When an employee is on assignment away from his/her school or regular place of employment, and that assignment requires (a) the employment of a substitute, (b) payment of travel expenses, or (c) out-of-county attendance, the employee must complete a request for Temporary Duty Form obtained from Human Resources. The request must be signed and approved by the supervising administrator and forwarded to Human Resources for final approval.
Temporary Duty. An employee called to temporary active duty as a member of the National Guard or other reserve unit shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for the duration of such temporary active duty. Seniority shall accrue for such employee during any such temporary military leave of absence.

The position and/or responsibility of the applicant in relation to the school system. 2. The value to the school system which reasonably may be expected from attendance and participation in the particular meeting. 3. Out-of-state meetings at the district expense shall be obtained through the following channels: application for such leave by employees shall be made to and recommended by the principal or immediate supervisor. The application must be approved by the Director of Employee Relations. Leave request forms should be submitted for approval well in advance of the planned absence, but in no case less than ten (10) days prior to the absence.

Temporary Duty. Temporary duty assignments are short-term absences approved by the immediate supervisor away from an employee’s normal work location on a professional school-related activity. These activities include such things as field trips, representing Xxxx County Schools at a multidistrict meeting, or assisting other school districts in evaluations or plant surveys. During nonstudent contact time, employees with children/wards will be given temporary duty for parent conferences. Temporary duty of up to three (3) days shall also be provided to an applicant for National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification to assist the applicant in fulfilling program requirements.

In no case shall temporary duty with pay be granted for court attendance when an employee is engaged in personal litigation; however, employees who have accrued annual leave may be granted annual leave or may use paid personal leave for this purpose.
