Tests Required. All persons must be tested for controlled substances prior to initial employment by the Contractor and on other occasions as required by Department of Transportation (“DOT”) guidelines. Whenever a Contractor has reasonable cause to believe that the actions, appearance or conduct of a driver, while on duty, are indicative of the use of a controlled substance or alcohol, the driver will be required to undergo a drug and/or alcohol test. MPS can request a Contractor to investigate a driver if there is a reasonable cause, in accordance with DOT Reasonable Cause Drug Policy Procedures. Contractors will provide documentation to MPS that the test was conducted.

Tests Required. 8.1 Samples will be delivered accompanied by a written request stipulating the tests required, and where relevant, the method to be used.
8.2 When samples require subcontracted testing, and the Client requests a laboratory other than those approved by APAF, it is the responsibility of the Client to:
(a) assess the quality assurance compliance of that laboratory;
(b) facilitate the access to that laboratory, at the Client’s cost. APAF may decline to use any laboratory other than those approved or used by APAF.
Tests Required i) The GC may be required to carry out the following forms of tri-axial compression shear strength tests :
a) Unconsolidated – un-drained (UU)
b) Consolidated – un-drained (CU)
c) Consolidated - drained (CD)
d) Dead load (DL)
ii) The UU tests will be carried out and reported in accordance with BS1377: 1990. CU and CD testing procedures will be based on "The Measurement of Soil Properties in the Tri-axial Test" (1976) by X.X. Xxxxxx, and X.X. Xxxxxx. The Authorized representative appointed for supervision by MMB. may vary these methods as considered appropriate. Unless otherwise specified the confining cell pressure shall be the best estimate of the in-situ total horizontal stress, at rest.
iii) DL testing procedure shall be as follows :- The stresses specified shall be applied in an increment of cell pressure followed by an increment of deviator load with a continuous record of volume change. Each stage shall commence when there is no further volume change. Once equilibrium has been reached at the final stage the pore water pressure shall be measured independently at the top and bottom of the specimen and shall not differ by more than 1kN/m².
