The Certified Union Safety Representative shall a) Inspect the physical condition of the work place not more often then once a month or at such intervals as a Director of the Ministry of Labour may direct, and it is the duty of the employer and the workers to afford that member such information and assistance as may be required for the purpose of carrying out the inspection. b) Investigate cases where a worker is killed or critically injured at a work place from any cause and one of those members may, subject to Section 51 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, inspect the place where the accident occurred and any machine, device or thing, and shall report his/her findings to a Director of the Ministry of Labour and to the Joint Health & Safety Committee. c) Be entitled to such time from his/her work as is necessary to attend meetings of the Joint Health & Safety Committee and to carry out his/her duties under Sections 8, 9, 43, 45, 46, 47, 48, and 51 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the time so spent shall be deemed to be work time for which he/she shall be paid by his/her employer at his/her regular or premium rate as may be proper.
