Joint Health & Safety Committee. (a) The Company and the Union agree to utilize and empower a Joint Health & Safety Committee in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act. (b) The Committee shall be comprised of eight (8) employees, four (4) being appointed by the Company and four (4) being appointed by the Union. There will be two (2) Union representatives on day shift and one (1) on afternoon shift and one (1) on midnight shift, so long as such shifts are operating in the plant. (c) Two (2) Co-chairpersons will be selected, one of the Co- Chairpersons shall be a Union member chosen by the Union members. The other Co-Chairperson will be a Company member chosen by the Company. The Union Co- Chairperson and the Company Co-Chairperson shall be allowed up to two (2) hours per week to jointly meet. Note: During absences of the Co-Chairperson(s), respective alternates will be recognized. (d) Time spent by Members of this Committee in the course of their plant duties shall be considered as time worked and shall be paid in accordance with the terms of this Agreement, including authorized overtime if any. (i) The Company will identify the duties of the Joint Health & Safety Committee in the posted Health & Safety Policy. The following are some of the recognized duties: (1) Identify situations that may be a source of danger or hazard to workers; (2) Receive information from the workers and the Company as well as make recommendations to the Company and the workers for the improvement of the health and safety of workers; (3) Recommend to the Company and the workers the establishment, maintenance, and monitoring of programs, measures and procedures respecting the health and safety of workers; (4) Monthly inspections of the plant of all places of employment including buildings, structures, grounds, tools, equipment, and work methods and practices will be conducted by Management and members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Safety tours will include all shifts. (5) Receive prompt notification of any fatalities and/or serious injuries resulting from work related accidents as well as be informed of any major incidents that did not result in serious injuries; and review accident and incident investigations to ensure completeness and ensure preventative measures have been done. (6) Hold regular meetings at least once a month or more frequently if mutually agreed upon by the Co- chairpersons. The Co-chairs shall alternate responsibility for chairing the meeting. Joint Health & Safety Committee. (a) The City shall maintain a Joint Health and Safety Committee consisting of not more than twelve (12) members in pursuance of regulations made pursuant to the provisions of the Workers Compensation Act. (b) Such Joint Health and Safety Committee shall so far as practicable be co-chaired and consist of an equal number of representatives of the City and Employees. Employee representatives shall be appointed by the Union. (c) Employee representatives shall be regular employees of the City, with at least one (1) years’ experience in that type of operation over which their inspection duties shall extend. (d) The general duties of the Joint Health and Safety Committee shall be as directed by the regulations made pursuant to the Workers Compensation Act. (e) Meetings of the said Committee shall be held at least once each month. (f) In the case of a fatal or serious accident, the Joint Health and Safety Committee, shall, within forty-eight (48) hours, conduct an investigation into such accident.
Joint Health & Safety Committee i) The Employer agrees to comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act. ii) All time spent by a member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee attending meetings of the Committee and carrying out his/her duties, shall be deemed to be work time for which he/she shall be paid by the Employer at his/her regular rate and he/she shall be entitled to such time from work as necessary to attend scheduled meetings.
Joint Health & Safety Committee. (1) The parties agree to the establishment of a Joint Health & Safety Committee comprised of one member appointed by the Union and one member appointed by the Company to advise management of health and safety matters with particular emphasis on plant environmental conditions which may cause actual or potential health or safety hazards. (2) The Company will make available to the Joint Health & Safety Committee technical data and other information in its possession which may be necessary for the Committee’s efficient functioning including information regarding known hazardous substances present at the work site. (3) The Company will compensate members of the Committee for approved time lost from their regular work while engaged on the work of the Committee. (4) The Company, through the Joint Health & Safety Committee, will keep the Union and employees informed of known safety measures and hazardous substances to which employees may become exposed at their work place.
Joint Health & Safety Committee. The Employer and the Union will appoint an equal number of representatives of three (3) or more to a Joint Health and Safety Committee to review and make recommendations as to occupational health and safety issues related to custodial work. Recommendations will be presented to the Union and to the Employer in writing. The committee will meet no less than four (4) times a school year, as per Article 24(c).
Joint Health & Safety Committee. 18.01 The parties agree that the Joint Health & Safety Committee shall govern itself in accordance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the terms of reference of the committee. 18.02 Employees who are members of the Committee shall be granted leave without loss of pay and will receive straight time regular wages while attending meetings of the Committee or while attending meetings of the Committee or participating in accident investigations, workplace inspections or training. Committee meetings, accident investigations and inspections shall be scheduled during normal working hours whenever possible. The Committee has equal membership for the Employer and the Union. Joint Health & Safety Committee a. A joint health and safety committee shall be established which is composed of a minimum of two (2) Union members chosen by the Union. At no time shall the number of Employer members be allowed to outnumber the amount of Union members and vice versa. b. Two (2) co-chairpersons shall be elected by and from the members of the committee. One (1) co-chairperson shall be a Union member, the other shall be an Employer member. c. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the committee shall: i. Determine that inspections have been carried out at least once a month by the co-chairs or designates. These inspections shall be made of all places of employment, including buildings, structures, grounds, excavations, tools, equipment, machinery and work methods and practices including ergonomic assessments. ii. Recommend measures required to attain compliance with appropriate government regulations and the corrections of hazardous conditions. iii. Consider recommendations from the workforce with respect to health and safety matters and recommend implementation where warranted. iv. Hold meetings at least bi-monthly for the review of reports of current accidents, occupational diseases and sprains and strains injuries, their causes and means of prevention; remedial action taken or required by the reports of investigations or inspections, and; any other matters pertaining to health and safety. v. Record the minutes of the meetings which shall be signed by the co- chairs, distributed to the committee members and posted on the bulletin board. vi. Have access to and promptly receive copies of all reports, records and documents in the Employer’s possession or obtainable by the Employer pertaining to health and safety. vii. Time spent by members of the committee in the course of their duties shall be considered as time worked and shall be paid in accordance with the terms of this Agreement. viii. The Union health and safety committee shall meet without Employer representatives for at least one-half (½) hour prior to the committee meeting.
Joint Health & Safety Committee. The Employer shall establish a Joint Health and Safety Committee for each worksite as mandated under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Terms of Reference and operating guidelines for all Committees shall be in compliance and in accordance with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and shall include a provision for union and management co-chairs.
