Observed Holidays The following days shall be observed as paid holidays for all eligible employees:
Designated Holidays A part-time employee shall not be paid for the designated holidays but shall, instead be paid four decimal two five percent (4.25%) for all straight-time hours worked.
Compensation for Holidays Falling Within Vacation Schedule If a paid holiday falls on or is observed during an Employee's vacation period, she shall be allowed an additional vacation day with pay at a time mutually agreed upon by the Employer and the Employee.

C. When a holiday other than Christmas Day, falls on a Sunday, the next day shall be observed as the holiday. D. When Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday, the next day (Monday) shall be observed as the holiday unless an employee is required to work on December 25 or January 1, respectively, as part of his or her normal work schedule. In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on December 25 or January 1, respectively. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both December 25 and the following Monday, or for both January 1 and the following Monday. F. When Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Saturday, the Friday immediately preceding shall be observed as the holiday unless an employee is required to work on December 25 or January 1, respectively, as part of his or her normal work schedule. In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on December 25 or January 1, respectively. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both December 25 and the Friday immediately preceding or for both January 1 and the Friday immediately preceding. G. Notwithstanding Sections 1.B through 1.F above, the County may designate holiday observances as follows: 1. When Xxxxxxx’s Birthday, Independence Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday, the next day (Monday) shall be observed as the holiday unless an employee is required to work on the actual holiday (rather than the observed holiday) as part of his or her normal work schedule. In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on the actual holiday rather than the observed holiday. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both the actual holiday (occurring on Sunday) and the observed holiday (occurring on Monday). 2. When Xxxxxxx’s Birthday, Independence Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Saturday, the Friday immediately preceding shall be observed as the holiday unless an employee is required to work on the actual holiday (rather than the observed holiday) as part of his or her normal work schedule. In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on the actual holiday rather than the observed holiday. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both the actual holiday (occurring on Saturday) and the observed holiday (occurring on the Friday immediately preceding). 3. Subsections 1 and 2 above will not be implemented unless the County implements the same holiday schedule for other recognized bargaining units (other than AOCDS).
Scheduled Holidays Holidays for certain employees, typically 24/7 facilities, are pre-scheduled on days other than the holidays mentioned in Section 1. This schedule is determined in advance. If employees who have their holiday pre-scheduled are required to work on that pre-scheduled holiday day, they are compensated as follows: a.) Cash overtime employees are paid for the number of holiday hours pre-scheduled plus payment at the rate of time and one-half for the number of hours actually worked. b.) Compensatory leave eligible employees are paid for the number of hours prescheduled plus credited with holiday compensatory time for the number of hours actually worked, which must be used within one (1) year after having accrued this time. This provision does not apply to an employee who is on leave without pay during the same pay period as the assigned holiday.
Paid Holidays – Long Weekends (a) When an employee is scheduled to work a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to also schedule the employee to work the paid holiday. (b) When the employee is scheduled off on a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to schedule the employee off the paid holiday. (c) In the event of a scheduling conflict, 12.07 (a) will be the deciding provision.
Work on Holidays An employee who is required to work, or works with prior approval, any part of a holiday shall receive holiday compensatory time for up to eight (8) hours, on an hour for hour basis, for the actual non-overtime hours worked in addition to their regular rate of pay. An employee who works overtime on a holiday shall be compensated in accordance with all applicable pay and overtime provisions. An employee must use holiday compensatory time within one (1) year after having accrued that time.
Unbroken Vacation Period An Employee shall receive an unbroken period of vacation unless mutually agreed upon between the Employee and the Employer.
Worked Holidays Employees who are required to work on the above-named holidays shall receive the pay due them for the holiday, plus double their base rate for all hours worked on such holiday, plus shift differential and Cost of Living Adjustment, if applicable, unless the employee starts to work at 10:00 P.M., or thereafter on that day.
