Excused Work Days. (Flexible Excused Time for Large Business see Customer Markets Addendum; for DSG see Network Addendum)
A. Eligibility. Each Temporary or Regular employee who has at least 6 months of seniority on January 1 of any given year will be eligible for 4 Excused Work Days with pay and one Excused Work Day without pay during such year. Employees who do not work on their paid Excused Work Day will be paid for the day as if for a day worked provided they are on the active payroll of the Company on that scheduled Excused Work Day.
1. Employees returning from an authorized leave or recalled from lay-off who have not previously worked in the calendar year will be entitled to Excused Work Days in accordance with the following schedule: Return Date EWD Equivalent January thru February 5 days (4 paid & 1 unpaid) March thru April 4 days (paid) May thru June 3 days (paid) July thru August 2 days (paid) September thru October 1 day (paid) November thru December 0
B. Part-time employees, regardless of classification, shall be eligible for Excused Work Days on a prorata basis based upon the ratio of any such part-time employee's equivalent work week to the normal work week of a comparable full-time employee.
C. One paid Excused Work Day in each calendar year may be designated by the Company (except for CPE) for employees in a work group or in any larger group provided the employees in such groups would not be scheduled to work. Employees (except Occasional employees) in any such group for which an Excused Work Day is designated by the Company and who are not otherwise eligible for a paid Excused Work Day shall be excused and paid for such designated day provided they are on the active payroll of the Company on the designated Excused Work Day.
1. Employees who are transferred into a work group where an Excused Work Day has been designated by the Company and who have previously used all of their paid Excused Work Days will be excused and paid for such designated days.
D. Employees who are absent with pay on their paid Excused Work Day for reasons other than observing it as an Excused Work Day shall have their paid Excused Work Day rescheduled if a vacation day would have been rescheduled under the same circumstances.

Excused Work Days. 1 Each regular employee who has at least six (6) months of net credited service on January 1 of each calendar year during the life of the Agreement, shall be eligible for four (4) Excused Work Days with pay and one (1) Excused Work Day without pay during each of such years. 4 Employees shall select their Excused Work Days (except those Excused Work Days designated by the Company) in accordance with Article 22 (Vacations). 5 Employees who are on vacation or absent with pay on their paid Excused Work Day for reasons other than having observed it as an Excused Work Day shall have their paid Excused Work day rescheduled, if a vacation day would have been rescheduled under the same circumstances. 6 If employees agree to work on their paid Excused Work Day and the Company determines that the day cannot be rescheduled, they shall be paid as applicable in accordance with the following Subparagraphs:
(a) Employees who agree to work before the work schedule becomes fixed shall receive one (1) day's pay as set forth in Paragraph 2 in lieu of their Excused Work Day and shall, in addition, be paid in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement covering work on a scheduled day of work.
(b) Employees who agree to work after the work schedule becomes fixed shall receive one (1) day's pay as set forth in Paragraph 2 in lieu of their Excused Work Day and shall, in addition, be paid in accordance with the provision of this Agreement covering work on a Non-Scheduled Day.
(c) Time worked by an employee on his or her Excused Work Day shall be considered time worked on a regularly scheduled day of work for all purposes, except as is otherwise expressly provided in this Article.
Excused Work Days. 1. A regular employee with a TERM OF EMPLOYMENT of six months on January 1 in the current year shall be eligible for four (4) Excused Work Days with pay during that year.
2. An employee who takes an Excused Work Day shall receive pay not to exceed eight (8) hours at his or her ADJUSTED RATE plus applicable NIGHT WORK and 7-DAY COVERAGE BONUSES for such day.
3. An employee who is absent with pay on an Excused Work Day shall be permitted to reschedule such day.
4. Three (3) Excused Work Days may be scheduled in one (1) hour increments. The remaining Excused Work Day may be scheduled in two (2) hour increments.
5. An employee who cannot take an Excused Work Day because of management convenience, or as otherwise described below, may reschedule such Excused Work Day into the following year, provided that any Excused Work Day so rescheduled shall be completed prior to June 30. Under no circumstances shall an employee be paid an allowance in lieu of any Excused Work Days not taken prior to termination of employment.
6. The time may be taken based on the employee’s need to take the time.
Excused Work Days. After a surplus declaration, the Company will make every reasonable effort to grant time off for unused Excused Work Days to those employees in the at risk group prior to their scheduled off roll date.

Excused Work Days. Each regular full-time employee and regular part-time employee on a pro-rata basis, with a six month's term of employment on July 1, shall be eligible for three (3) excused work days during the fiscal year with pay at his/her base rate. Employees who achieve a six month's term of employment after July 1, but not later than December 31, shall be eligible for two excused work days during the fiscal year with pay at his/her base rate upon achieving the six month's term of employment.
1. In all cases, the Employees with eligibility as specified above must reserve at least one excused work day until December 31, or until the City renders a decision or declaration, whichever is sooner, as provided for.
2. The City shall have the option of converting one (1) paid Excused Workday to a designated day provided the City so designates prior to December 31st of the preceding year.
a) An employee who is not otherwise eligible for a paid Excused Workday shall be excused and paid for such City designated workday.
3. In the event an employee is scheduled to work on a designated Excused Workday, he/she shall reschedule in the fiscal year or in the event the day cannot be rescheduled due to business conditions, shall be paid in lieu of the designated Excused Workday at his/her base rate.
4. An employee who is absent with pay on a designated Excused Workday may reschedule the day provided such rescheduling is in the same fiscal year.
5. Non-designated Excused Workdays shall normally be scheduled 24 hours in advance with approval of the Chief of Police.
a) An employee is otherwise absent with pay on a non- designated Excused Workday shall be permitted to re-schedule in the same fiscal year.
b) There shall be no payment in lieu of or carry-over from one fiscal year to the next of unused non- designated Excused Workdays.
