Training and Inservice Presentations. Professional development is a shared 5 responsibility. Nurses are required to complete 100% of their mandatory training 6 requirements by the established training deadline, including on-line training on an 7 annual basis. Mandatory training shall include, but not be limited to, life safety 8 certifications required for nurses to work in designated patient care areas. The 9 Employer shall provide to nurses sufficient opportunity to timely complete their 10 mandatory trainings. Nurses are responsible for scheduling their training so that 11 they do not incur overtime or premium pay as a result of the training. If it is not 12 possible for the nurse to avoid incurring overtime or premium pay, then the nurse 13 must receive prior approval from his or her manager. Nurses shall be 14 compensated at their straight time hourly rate for voluntary attendance at 15 approved inservices when individually approved by the Employer. The Employer 16 shall note any nursing unit restrictions on expected attendants or recipients of an 17 inservice on the inservice announcement.
