Transportation Department Seniority. ‌ Employees in the Transportation Department shall have their seniority (system or classification) calculated on the same basis as such seniority is calculated for all other employees (see Article 18, Section 18.01, 18.02, and 18.03), subject to the following additional rules:

  • Department of Transportation Bridge Maintenance employees, when actually climbing the cable stays of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge for inspection and/or repair, shall be compensated at the rate of ten dollars ($10.00) an hour in addition to their regular hourly rate of pay. Employees shall be compensated for a minimum of one (1) hour of such work regardless of the length of the climbing assignment.

  • Departmental Seniority Departmental seniority is defined as the length of employment within the employee’s current department. Department seniority shall accrue as of the first day of employment or transfer into a new department.
