Common use of Union Delegate Leave Clause in Contracts

Union Delegate Leave. An employee elected as a delegate to Union conventions, seminars, or training sessions shall be granted leave of absence and the employee shall continue to receive regular pay and benefits. The Union shall reimburse the Employer for all such pay and benefits when billed by the Employer. Leave of absence for these events shall be requested at least ten (10) working days in advance to the employee's exempt supervisor. Unusual circumstances (less than ten (10) working days) shall be given consideration. If more than one (1) person, from the same classification or area, is elected to attend a Union convention, seminar, or training session, where their absence may result in an area being unable to provide service, the Union will obtain approval from the exempt supervisor in the affected area. Such leave shall not be unduly withheld.
