RIGHTS OF THE ASSOCIATION. A. The Association and its representatives shall have the right to use school buildings for meetings at all reasonable hours, provided such use does not conflict with school use. When special custodial service is required, the Board may make a customary charge therefore. Applications for use of school facilities shall be made in advance at the office of the Superintendent, and such use will be subject to such limitations and restrictions as shall be set forth in a permit issued by he/she or his/her office staff. B. Duly authorized representatives of the Association shall be permitted to transact Association business on school property at all reasonable hours, provided, that such business transactions shall not interfere with school activities. Association officials who are not employees of this district shall be permitted to visit school premises to transact official Association business, provided they first report to the office of the building principal upon entry, state the nature of their business and secure permission from the principal. Permission shall not be withheld if in the opinion of the principal the Association official's visit will not interfere with or interrupt school operations. C. The Association shall have the right to use school facilities and equipment, including typewriters, other duplicating equipment, calculating machines, and all types of audio- visual equipment, at reasonable times, when such equipment is not otherwise in use. The Association shall pay for the reasonable cost of all materials, supplies and repairs incident to such use. The right herein granted is limited to use of said machines and equipment within the school buildings following student session hours. D. The Association shall have the right to post notices of its activities and matters of Association concern on teacher bulletin boards, at least one of which shall be provided in each school building. The Association may use the teacher mailboxes for communications to teachers; provided that the appropriate Association official affixes his/her signature to every notice distributed or posted on or through school facilities. The members of the association may communicate Calumet Education Association business on the District’s computer network. In order to access the e-mail and internet, the Calumet Education Association and association members must sign the Board Network and Internet Access Agreement. RIGHTS OF THE ASSOCIATION. A. The Board agrees to observe the rights of teachers as outlined in Section 17.455 (9) Lawful to Organize; 17.455 (10) Unfair Labor Practices; 17.455 (11) Exclusive Representation Grievance Procedure, of Act 379 of Public Acts of Michigan 1965. B. The Board specifically recognizes the right of its professional staff to invoke the assistance of the Michigan Employment Relations Commission. C. The Board, through the superintendent or his designee, shall upon request provide the Association with any public documents which will assist the Association in developing intelligent, accurate, informed and constructive programs on behalf of the teachers and their pupils, together with any other available information which may be necessary for the Association to process grievances under this Agreement. 1. The Association shall be provided with copies of the minutes of official Board meetings and all other printed materials that are distributed to Board members at official meetings except materials deemed confidential by law as soon as possible after such meetings. A copy of the official agenda of the meeting will be available to the Association at the Superintendent's office prior to said meeting. 2. The Board shall furnish the Association all available information concerning the financial resources of the district including, but not limited to, tentative budgetary requirements and allocations. D. The Association or any committee thereof shall have the right to use school buildings and facilities without charge for professional meetings during times when the building is covered by the operating staff. Room arrangements shall be made with the principal involved. 1. The Association shall have use of all equipment at reasonable times, when such equipment is not in use, and under procedures approved by the principal or superintendent of schools. The Association agrees to reimburse the Board for any damage to equipment entrusted to its use and care. 2. All reasonable requests for use of office, lounge, and workroom bulletin boards shall be granted to the Association. 3. School mail service shall be granted to the Association. 4. The Association agrees to pay at school cost for all materials used for its purposes. 5. Any deviations from above shall be done only with the full knowledge and consent of the building principal. E. RIGHTS OF THE ASSOCIATION. (a) The University of New Brunswick shall provide the Association, without charge, with a suitably serviced and maintained, centrally located office on each campus, and with the use of the internal postal service of the University of New Brunswick. The Parties agree that, where the Association’s full-time bargaining unit is sharing office space with its part- time bargaining unit, in the event of work disruption involving the part-time unit, the full-time unit shall maintain its access to office space and services independent of the part-time unit. (b) Meeting rooms on either campus may be booked by the Association through the room booking procedures applicable to academic departments and will be available without charge. (c) Internal mail, telephone, duplication, computing and audio visual services, and such other University of New Brunswick services as may be agreed upon from time to time, shall be available to the Association on either campus on the same basis and at the same rates as are applicable to academic departments. Agreement on the use of such other University of New Brunswick services by the Association shall not be unreasonably withheld by the University of New Brunswick. 6.02 The University agrees to place a printer friendly version and a searchable version of this collective agreement on its website within 15 days of the signing of this agreement. Letters of appointment shall include the URL of the collective agreement and advise new Employees of the right to receive a printed copy on request to Human Resources and Organizational Development. The University agrees to print and provide to the Association, without charge, 100 printed copies of this Collective Agreement (including all appendices). 6.03 The University of New Brunswick agrees to arrange for a courtesy account for use by the Association, to which charges incurred by the Association shall be debited for payment by the Association. On a monthly basis, the University of New Brunswick agrees to provide the Association with a line by line statement of all transactions made on this account during the previous month. 6.04 Individuals employed by the Association shall not participate in the University of New Brunswick's benefits plans and shall not be subject to the University of New Brunswick's personnel policies, but shall have access to University facilities on the same basis as Employees of the University of New Brunswick in similar classifications.
RIGHTS OF THE ASSOCIATION. 8.01 As a condition of employment all members of the bargaining unit shall remit to the Association all dues required by the Association to be paid. Such dues are to be submitted at the time members are required to pay such dues. 8.02 Membership in the Association is open to all those included in the bargaining unit, although membership shall not be a condition of employment. 8.03 The Employer shall inform each newly hired employee who is a member of the bargaining unit of the provisions of 8.01 and 8. 8.04 The Employer shall deduct an amount equal to the dues established by the Association from the salary of each member of the bargaining unit whether or not that person is a member of the Association. 8.05 The Association shall notify the Employer in writing of the amount of the dues and any change thereof with its effective date. The Employer shall make the deductions and the necessary changes within thirty (30) days following said notice. The Employer shall deposit the monies deducted during each bi-weekly pay period directly to the account of the Association at the branch of the bank which the Association has designated and, within fifteen (15) days of each pay period, shall forward in electronic form, an alphabetical listing of the names of those from whom the deductions have been made, and the amount of those deductions. 8.06 A member who expresses to the Association religious or conscientious objections to the paying of dues to a union, and whose objections are accepted by the Association, may have a sum equivalent to the dues deducted and remitted on the member's behalf to a charitable organization chosen by the member from a list mutually agreed upon between the Employer and the Association. 8.07 Provision of information a) The Employer agrees to provide the Association with access to the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). The information available to the Association shall include for each member: the full name, date of birth, sex, Library position, Department, Faculty, rank, terminal degree and date of terminal degree, date of initial appointment, years of service, years in rank, date of most recent promotion, promotion history, nominal salary including all supplements, appointment status (tenured, probationary, ETA, LTA, research, or in-residence), leave status, University office and e-mail address, office local, home address and home telephone number. b) The information provided in 8.07 a) is confidential and is provided to the Associati...
RIGHTS OF THE ASSOCIATION. 3.5.1 In recognition of the involvement of Members in the consultative process of this Agreement, the University agrees to provide the Association with three stipends per academic year to be distributed at the Association’s discretion. The value of each stipend shall be equivalent to the salary for a one-term undergraduate course. In addition, the Association will be allowed to purchase up to three additional stipends per academic year at the same rate. The Association will inform the University of the names of the Members to whom such stipends are to be allocated as soon as they are elected or appointed and not later than July 1. Designated Members will be issued an administrative contract for an amount equivalent to the salary for a one-term undergraduate course. Responsibilities assigned by the Association and stipends received under this Article 3.5.1 shall not count as part of a Member’s workload under Article 16 or 17. A Librarian Member who has been designated such a stipend by the Association shall arrange the scheduling of his/her library duties with the University Librarian. 3.5.2 For the purposes of 3.5.1 only, CAS Members appointed to conduct duties of the Association shall be regarded as Members for the full academic year in which the appointment occurs. In all cases CAS Members so designated must teach at least a .5 course credit in that academic year. 3.5.3 The University recognizes that Members, subject to their obligations under this Agreement, have the right to attend open meetings of the Board and Senate, and to attend any open meetings of committees of these bodies. 3.5.4 The University recognizes that the Association has the right at any time to call upon the assistance of duly authorized representatives of the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) and of the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA). Such duly authorized representatives shall, subject to the provisions of the Act, have access to University premises to consult with Association officials and Members.

RIGHTS OF THE ASSOCIATION. 3.5.1 In recognition of the involvement of Members in the consultative process of this Agreement, the University agrees to provide a total of ten (10) one-term undergraduate course equivalents per contract year to the Association to be distributed at its discretion between the two bargaining units. In addition the Association will be allowed to purchase up to ten (10) one-term undergraduate course equivalents per contract year, at the current stipend rate. These one-term course equivalents are inclusive of the stipends provided to Contract Academic Staff and Part- time Librarians under 3.5.1 of the Part-time Collective Agreement. Should a Librarian Member be assigned such release time by the Association it shall be assigned at an equivalency rate of 3.5 hours/week on average per one-term undergraduate course. The Librarian Member shall negotiate with his/her supervising Associate University Librarian, otherwise with the University Librarian, the timing of such release time. RIGHTS OF THE ASSOCIATION. X. Xxxxxxxx to Act 379 of the Public Acts of 1965, the Board hereby agrees that every employee of the Board shall have the right to organize, join and support the Association for the purpose of engaging in collective bargaining or negotiation and other concerted activities for mutual aid and protection. As a duly elected body exercising governmental power under cover of law of the State of Michigan, the Board undertakes and agrees that it will not directly or indirectly discourage or deprive or coerce any teacher in the enjoyment of any of the rights conferred by Act 379 or any other law of Michigan or the Constitutions of Michigan and the United States; that it will not discriminate against any teacher with respect to hours, wages, or any terms or conditions of employment by reason of his membership in the Association, his participation in any activities of the Association or collective professional negotiations with the Board, or his institution of any grievances, complaints, or proceeding under this Agreement, or otherwise, with respect to any terms or conditions of employment. B. The Board specifically recognizes the rights of its employees appropriately to invoke the assistance of the Michigan Employment Relations Commission, or a mediator from such public agency. C. The Association and its members shall continue to have the right to use school building facilities at all reasonable hours for meetings, subject to scheduling by the Principal. No teacher shall be prevented from wearing insignias, pins, or other identification of membership in the Association, either on or off school premises. Faculty bulletin boards, school mail, and other established media of communications shall be made available to the Association and its members with the exception of political issues. D. The Board agrees to furnish to the Association, in response to reasonable requests from time-to-time, all available public information concerning the financial resources of the District, tentative budgetary requirements and allocations, and such other information as will assist the Association in developing intelligent, accurate, informed and constructive programs on behalf of the teachers and their students, together with information which may be necessary for the Association to process any grievance or complaint.
