Union Leave of Absence. 22:01 (a) The Employer shall grant leave of absence to employees to attend Union conventions, seminars, educational classes or other Union business. It is understood that the Union will not request leave of absence for more than four (4) full-time employees and three (3) part-time employees at any one time and the total leave of absence in any year shall be not more than an aggregate of thirty (30) working days for full- time employees and fifteen (15) working days for part- time employees. Longer leaves of absence will be approved at management’s discretion and will not be unreasonably withheld. Such leaves of absence shall not seriously disrupt the operations of the Home, and shall be requested as far in advance as possible, in writing to the Home Administrator, with a copy to the Human Resources Associate. It is further understood that the leave of absence shall be granted without pay and the Union shall be responsible for the payment of wages during the period of absence. Union Leave of Absence. 22:01 (a) The Employer shall grant leave of absence to employees Time off with pay to attend Union conventionsthe following meetings, seminarswill be granted to authorized representatives of the Union.
1. When attending Union/Employer meetings when such meetings are called at the request of the Employer or its duly authorized representative.
2. In the case of salary, educational classes or other Union businessfringe benefit and working condition negotiations when such negotiations are carried on with the Employer; and when these salaries, fringe benefits and working conditions are discussed by the Xxxxxx County Public Transportation Benefit Area Corporation Board of Commissioners at its public hearings on the annual budget.
3. It is understood that Twenty-four (24) hours’ notice will be given by the Union will before leave for such Union business is taken, unless waived by the Employer.
4. Such meetings as referred to in paragraphs 1. and 2. shall not request leave of absence for more than four exceed one hundred sixty (4160) full-time employees and three (3) part-time employees at hours in any one time and calendar year.
5. For pension calculation purposes only, up to an additional three thousand (3,000) hours may be designated as paid leave when agreement is made in cases where the total leave Employer is reimbursed annually by the Union for such hours.
6. The amount of absence in any year reimbursement shall be not more than an aggregate based on the average rate of thirty (30) working days pay as of January 1 of each year for full- time employees and fifteen (15) working days for part- time employees. No later than December 1 of each year, the Union shall be requested as far in advance as possible, in writing to the Home Administrator, with a copy provide written notice to the Human Resources Associatedepartment designating the number of reimbursable hours for pension continuation purposes, not to exceed one thousand five hundred (1,500) hours. 22:03 Employees who are on leave of absence 7. These hours will not engage in gainful employment while on such leave and if an employee does engage in gainful employment while on such leave be considered as hours worked for the purposes of absence they may forfeit all seniority rights and privileges contained in this Agreement. Such Leave of Absence shall be, upon request request, extended and provision it is understood that the Company will receive written notice from the National Union or Local 112 respectively to this effect.
29.02 The National Union or Local 112 agrees also to advise the Company in writing once annually of six the names of those de Havilland employees who are engaged in full time duties with the Union.

29.04 If an employee returns to the Bargaining Unit from a full time office with the National Union, the return shall be to the former job classification or a job classification where he/ she has vested rights, providing such return does not result in a layoff or bumping of an employee holding greater seniority.
29.05 When an employee returns to the Bargaining Unit from a full-time office with Local 112, he/she shall be returned consistent with his/her seniority and service entitlements to the classification and to the department in which he/she was employed at the time of his/her selection to such office, or to a job classification embracing comparable job duties to that which he/she held prior to his/her selection.
29.06 An employee with the National Union or Local 112 UNIFOR may terminate his/her Leave of Absence at any time during his/her term of absence. The employee agrees Company will be notified eight (8) weeks prior to notify the Employer of the employee's intention to return to work within four (4) weeks following termination of office for which the leave was granted. Union Leave of Absence. 22:01 (a) The Employer Upon approval of the Department Head con- cerned, leave of absence, without pay, may be granted to employees to undertake full- time Union work as staff representatives or as elected officers to CUPE Manitoba, the Manitoba Federation of Labour, the National Executive of CUPE, or any other affiliated labour organization, for any period not less than six or more than 12 months and shall grant be automatically renewed on expiry for a like period from time to time unless either party signifies intention in writing of its desire to terminate said leave of absence in which case six months prior notice shall be given and the employee concerned may return to his or her position with the City on termina- tion of authorized leave. Such leave will not affect an employee’s seniority. In the case of sick leave credits, when employees return to the Civic Service, they shall be credited with the same amount of sick leave they had accumulated prior to their leave.
b) Upon approval of the Department Head con- cerned, leave of absence with pay may be granted to employees to attend union schools, conferences, or conventions as offi- cial delegates; or to undertake full time but limited term Local 500 Union conventions, seminars, educational classes work. Such employee shall receive his or other Union business. It is understood that her rate of pay and benefits as provided in the Agreement and the Union will not request leave shall reimburse the City for all wages and costs of absence said benefits including the City’s share of pension contributions paid by the City during the period of absence, such reimbursement to be made immediately on accounts being rendered by the City. For purposes of this Article, “full time limited term Local 500 Union work” shall mean undertakings directly applicable to industrial relations between the parties to this Collective Agreement. Requests for more than four (4) full-time employees and three (3) part-time employees at any one time and the total leave of absence in any year shall be not more than an aggregate of thirty (30) working days for full- time employees and fifteen (15) working days for part- time employees. Such employee shall receive his or her rate of pay and benefits as provided in the Agreement and the Union shall be responsible reimburse the City for all wages and cost of said bene- fits, including the payment City’s share of wages pension contributions paid by the City during the period of absence, such reimbursement to be made immediately on accounts being ren- dered by the City.
(bd) The parties agree During the employer will continue the regular compensation for the period employees on such leave, and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer in a timely fashion for all costs associated with the compensation for the employees. The parties agree that the Employer is not liable for any WSIB claims that may arise while the employee is on union leave as described in 22.01 (a).

Union Leave of Absence. 22:01 (a) The Employer shall grant leave of absence to employees Time off with pay to attend Union conventionsthe following meetings, seminarswill be granted to authorized representatives of the Union.
1. When attending Union/Employer meetings when such meetings are called at the request of the Employer or its duly authorized representative.
2. In the case of salary, educational classes or other Union businessfringe benefit and working condition negotiations when such negotiations are carried on with the Employer; and when these salaries, fringe benefits and working conditions are discussed by the Pierce County Public Transportation Benefit Area Corporation Board of Commissioners at its public hearings on the annual budget.
3. It is understood that Twenty-four (24) hours notice will be given by the Union will before leave for such Union business is taken, unless waived by the Employer.
4. Such meetings as referred to in paragraphs 1. and 2. shall not request leave of absence for more than four exceed one hundred sixty (4160) full-time employees and three (3) part-time employees at hours in any one time and calendar year.
5. For pension calculation purposes only, up to an additional three thousand (3,000) hours may be designated as paid leave when agreement is made in cases where the total leave Employer is reimbursed annually by the Union for such hours.

29.02 The National Union or Local 112 agrees also to advise the Company in writing once annually of six the names of those de Havilland employees who are engaged in full time duties with the Union.

29.05 When an employee returns to the Bargaining Unit from a full-time office with Xxxxx 000, xx/xxx xxxxx xx returned consistent with his/her seniority and service entitlements to the classification and to the department in which he/she was employed at the time of his/her selection to such office, or to a job classification embracing comparable job duties to that which he/she held prior to his/her selection.
29.06 An employee with the National Union or Local 112 C.A.W., may terminate his/her Leave of Absence at any time during his/her term of absence. The employee agrees Company will be notified eight (8) weeks prior to notify the Employer of the employee's intention to return to work within four (4) weeks following termination of office for which the leave was granted. 29.03 Upon similar application, upon request leave will be granted for periods up to ten (10) days, a cumulative maximum for the bargaining unit of forty (40) days per year to permit members of the Bargaining Unit to attend conventions or conferences called by the National Union or other Labour Councils. It is understood that not more than two (2) members will be absent at one time under this clause and provision of six (6) weeks noticethat applications for leave will be presented in writing as soon as possible allowing reasonable time in order that the Company may provide replacements, if necessary.
29.04 It is understood that requests, which exceed the numbers quoted above, may be granted providing the individuals can be spared from production.

29.06 When an employee returns to the Bargaining Unit from a full-time office with Local 112, he shall be returned consistent with his seniority and benefits for up service, to three (3) yearsthe classification and to the department in which he was employed at the time of his election to such office, or to a job classification embracing comparable job duties to that which he held prior to his election. Union Leave of Absence. 22:01 (a) In the event an em- ployee accepts a full-time position with the Union, he or she may request a leave of absence from the City Manager. Such request shall not be unreasonably withheld. Such request shall not be unreasonably withheld. The Employer shall City Manager may grant an unpaid leave of absence to an employee who has been in the bargaining unit for not less than one (1) year for such a period as he sees fit not to exceed five (5) years. Only one employee may request such extended Union Leave of Absence at a time. Upon return from an extended Union Leave of absence the employee returning will be placed in the least senior union em- ployee’s position for which the returning employee is qualified. Em- ployees taking an extended Union Leave of Absence shall continue to accrue seniority, not longevity or City credits for leave time as described below. In addition, employees to attend Union conventions, seminars, educational classes or other Union business. It is understood that the Union will not can request an unpaid union leave of absence from the Department Head for more than four (4) full-time employees and three (3) part-time employees at any one time and the total leave of absence in any year shall be not more than an aggregate a maximum of thirty (30) working days for full- time employees and fifteen per calendar year, consecutive or not, to attend official union business provided that the request is submitted at least two (152) working days for part- time employeesweeks in advance, if at all possible. Longer leaves of absence A determination will be approved at management’s discretion made by the Department Head based on the staffing and will operational needs of the department. A request for this leave shall not be unreasonably un- reasonably withheld. (b) The parties agree the employer will continue the regular compensation for the employees on return to his or her former job. Only two em- ployees may request such leave, and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer in a timely fashion for all costs associated with the compensation for the employees. The parties agree that the Employer is not liable for any WSIB claims that may arise while the employee is on union leave as described in 22.01 (a).
22:02 An employee who is elected or appointed to office in the Unifor, upon request and provision of six (6) weeks notice, shall be granted a unpaid leave of absence without loss (max 30 days) at a time. Employees on an unpaid union leave may not accrue sick leave, vacation leave or personal days for the duration of seniority and benefits their leave. Employees may opt to continue City health insurance cover- age, including dependent coverage, by paying the total cost of such coverage for up to three (3) yearsthe duration of their leave. Continuation of other bene- fits will be governed in accordance with the terms of each benefit plan. Employee’s anniversary date will be adjusted accordingly. During such leaves the employee’s approved leave of absence, salary and benefits shall be kept whole by the Employer and the Union agrees to reimburse the Employer for such salary and the Employers' contribution to said benefits. The employee agrees to notify the Employer of the employee's intention to return to work within four (4) weeks following termination of office for which the leave was granted. At the end of such leave, any employee hired or placed as a substitute for the employee on such absence, their position may be terminated or laid off filled by the Employer as requireda limited term appointment, temporary promotion, or be transferred to the temporary reassignment of another bargaining unit employee's previous position, if the substitution was a transfer.
22:03 Employees who are on leave of absence will not engage in gainful employment while on such leave and if an employee does engage in gainful employment while on such leave of absence they may forfeit all seniority rights and privileges contained in this Agreement. Union Leave of Absence. 22:01 (a) The Employer shall grant request for leaves of absence for up to 16 employees for the purpose of service as Laborer Represen- tative or officer with the International, State, District Council or Local Organization of the Union for the duration of his/her appoint- ment to the Union, provided reasonable advance notice in writing is given to the Employer. While on such leave the employee shall not incur a break in continuous service. An employee on said leave of absence to shall not be eligible for any benefits as an em- ployee. (c) Retention of Seniority after Promotion An Employee promoted to three (3) yearsa supervisory position or positions not subject to this agreement will retain their seniority after promotion for a period of 8 calendar months in Year 1 of the Agreement,. During such leaves An Employee promoted to a supervisory position or positions not subject to this agreement will retain their seniority after promotion for a period of absence7 calendar months in Year 2 of the Agreement,. An Employee promoted to a supervisory position or positions not subject to this agreement will retain their seniority after promotion for a period of 7 calendar months in Year 3 of the Agreement,. If demoted for any reason or if they voluntarily request reinstatement to their former position, salary and benefits the time served in the supervisory positon shall be kept whole by included in their seniority. Such employee shall forfeit any and all recourse to the Employer and grievance procedure as outlined in this agreement. Should he subsequently be discharged in such a position beyond the Union agrees jurisdication of this agreement, this article is to reimburse the Employer be applied once only for such salary and the Employers' contribution to said benefits.
