Common use of Union Leave of Absence Clause in Contracts

Union Leave of Absence. In the event that the Union requires the services of one or more of its members as business agent, the employee(s) chosen shall have the right to a leave of absence without pay for the duration of the Collective Agreement. The employee(s) shall continue to accumulate seniority during such a leave. An employee on such leave must advise the Company, in writing, at least thirty (30) days in advance, of the date on which he will be returning to work as a regular employee.

However, all requests of Union Leave will be subject to the final decision of the date on which he Company and such decision will be returning to work as a regular employeebased upon the effects the leave will have on production. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld.
