Union Leave of Absence. (a) All applications for leave of absence whether with or without pay shall be granted only to those official Union representatives whose absence in any specific case does not interfere with the operations of the Employer. (b) Upon application to, and upon receiving the permission of the Fire Chief in each specific case, up to two (2) official representatives of the Union may be granted time off without loss of pay for the purpose of settling a grievance as outlined elsewhere in this Agreement. (c) Upon application to, and upon receiving the permission of the Fire Chief in each specific case, up to three (3) official representatives of the Union may be granted leave of absence without loss of pay for the purpose of collective bargaining with the Employer. The Employer will pay for a maximum of twenty (20) shifts (combined total for all eligible employees) under this provision.
