Common use of Union Stewards Clause in Contracts

Union Stewards. (a) The Hospital agrees to recognize Union stewards to be elected or appointed from amongst employees in the bargaining unit who have completed their probationary period for the purpose of dealing with Union business as provided under this Collective Agreement. (b) A Chief Xxxxxxx or designate may, in the absence of any xxxxxxx, assist in the presentation of any grievance, or with any xxxxxxx function. (c) The Union shall keep the Hospital notified in writing of the names of Union stewards appointed or selected under this Article as well as the effective date of their respective appointments. (d) It is agreed that Union stewards have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Hospital and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor. If, in the performance of his duties, a Union xxxxxxx is required to enter an area within the Hospital in which he is not originally employed, he shall report his presence to the supervisor in the area immediately upon entering it. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. When resuming his regular duties and responsibilities, such xxxxxxx shall again report to his immediate supervisor. A Union xxxxxxx shall suffer no loss of earnings for time spent in performing the above duties during his regular scheduled working hours. (e) Nothing in this Article shall preclude full-time stewards from representing part-time employees and vice-versa. (f) The number of stewards and the areas which they represent, are to be determined locally.

(c) The Union shall keep the Hospital notified in writing of the names of Union stewards appointed or selected under this Article as well as the effective date of their respective appointments. (d) It is agreed that Union stewards Committee members have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Hospital and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor. (g) Official CAW xxxxxxx lapel pins may be worn by stewards that have been confirmed in writing to the corporation by the Union.

(b) A Chief Xxxxxxx or designate may, in the absence of any xxxxxxx, assist in the presentation of any grievance, or with any xxxxxxx function. (c) The Union shall keep the Hospital Health Centre notified in writing of the names of Union stewards appointed or selected under this Article as well as the effective date of their respective appointments. (d) It is agreed that Union stewards have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Hospital Health Centre and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor. If, in the performance of his duties, a Union xxxxxxx is required to enter an area within the Hospital Health Centre in which he is not originally employed, he shall report his presence to the supervisor in the area immediately upon entering it. (d) It is agreed that Union Nurses who are union stewards have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Hospital Employer and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor. If, The union xxxxxxx shall advise their immediate supervisor of the reason they are required to leave. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. If in the performance of his her duties, a Union xxxxxxx is required to enter an area within the Hospital in which he she is not originally ordinarily employed, he she shall report his her presence to the supervisor in the area immediately upon entering it. If, in supervisor who will be given a reasonable explanation for the performance of his duties, a Union xxxxxxx is required to enter an area within the Hospital in which he is not originally employed, he shall report his presence to the supervisor in the area immediately upon entering itrequested absence. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. When when resuming his their regular duties and responsibilitiesafter engaging in duties on behalf of the union, such xxxxxxx shall again they will report to their supervisor immediately upon their return; any union representative who is privileged by this agreement to take up union business in a department other than his immediate supervisor. It is understood that each xxxxxxx shall be an employee of the department or one of the group of departments he represents. A Union xxxxxxx shall suffer no loss of earnings for time spent in performing the above duties during his regular scheduled working hours. The Chief Xxxxxxx can request such time either during work hours or outside working hours. Should it be scheduled outside of working hours, such time shall be paid at the straight time rate of pay. A maximum of fifteen (15) hours will be carried forward. (e) Nothing in this Article shall preclude full-time stewards from representing part-time employees and vice-versa. Union Stewards. Union Stewards. (a) The Hospital Employer agrees to recognize Union two (2) stewards to who shall be elected or appointed from amongst employees in the bargaining unit who have completed their probationary period period. The function of these stewards shall be to assist employees in their respective areas in the processing of any grievance which may properly arise under the provisions of this Agreement. The Union will notify the Employer of the names of the stewards in writing before the Employer shall be required to recognize the same. Employees shall have the right to the assistance of an OPSEU Staff Representative whenever required for the purpose of dealing assisting with Union business as provided under complaints, grievances, investigations, Labour/ Management meetings, Health and Safety Committee meetings, and Negotiations. The exercise of this Collective Agreement. (b) A Chief Xxxxxxx or designate may, in right shall not interfere with the absence of any xxxxxxx, assist in the presentation of any grievance, or with any xxxxxxx function. (c) Employer’s operations. The Union shall keep recognizes and agrees that the Hospital notified in writing of the names of Union stewards appointed or selected under this Article as well as the effective date of their respective appointments. (d) It is agreed that Union stewards have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for in connection with their employment and that only such time as is necessary will be taken by the Hospital and xxxxxxx during working hours. The xxxxxxx shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining obtain the permission from their immediate supervisorof the xxxxxxx’x supervisor before leaving work to assist any employee in investigating or presenting the employee’s grievance. If, If in the performance of his duties, a Union xxxxxxx Xxxxxxx is required to enter an area within the Hospital in which he is they are not originally ordinarily employed, he the Xxxxxxx shall report his their presence to the supervisor in the area immediately upon entering it. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. When resuming his their regular duties and responsibilities, such xxxxxxx shall again report to his their immediate supervisor. A Union xxxxxxx Xxxxxxx shall suffer no loss of earnings for time spent in performing the above duties during his their regular scheduled working hours. The Chief Xxxxxxx may, in the absence of any xxxxxxx, assist in the presentation of any grievance, or with any xxxxxxx function. (c) The Union shall keep the Hospital Company notified in writing of the names of Union stewards appointed or selected under this Article as well as the effective date of their respective appointments. (d) It is agreed that Union stewards have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Hospital Company and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor. If, in the performance of his duties, a Union xxxxxxx is required to enter an area within the Hospital Company in which he is not originally normally employed, he or she shall report his presence to the supervisor in the area immediately upon entering it. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. When resuming his regular duties and responsibilities, such xxxxxxx shall again report to his immediate supervisor. A Union xxxxxxx shall suffer no loss of earnings for time spent in performing the above duties during his regular scheduled working hours. (b) . A Chief Xxxxxxx may be appointed or designate elected. The Chief Xxxxxxx may, in the absence of any xxxxxxx, assist in the presentation of any grievance, or with any xxxxxxx function. (c) . A xxxxxxx shall suffer no loss of earnings for time spent dur- ing their regular scheduled working hours in attending griev- ance meetings with OPTIONS up to, but not including ar- bitration. The Union shall keep the Hospital notified OPTIONS noti- fied in writing of the names of Union stewards appointed or selected under this Article as well as the effective date of their respective appointments. (d) . It is agreed that Union stewards have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Hospital Employer and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor. If, in the performance of his duties, a Union xxxxxxx is required to enter an area within the Hospital Employer in which he is not originally employed, he shall report his presence to the supervisor in the area immediately upon entering it. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. When resuming his regular duties and responsibilities, such xxxxxxx shall again report to his immediate supervisor. A Union xxxxxxx shall suffer no loss of earnings for time spent in performing the above duties during his regular scheduled working hours. (e) . Nothing in this Article shall preclude full-time stewards from representing part-part- time employees and vice-versa. (f) The number of stewards and the areas which they represent, are to be determined locally.

The Union shall keep the Hospital Employer notified in writing of the names of Union stewards appointed or selected under this Article as well as the effective date of their respective appointments. (d) .
