Unpaid Child Rearing Leave. 23.3.3.1. Leave without pay or benefits may be granted to a unit member for child rearing. 23.3.3.2. The unit member shall make such a request to the Human Resources Department as soon as practicable during the birth/adoption year, but under no circumstances less than thirty (30) days prior to the date on which the leave is to begin. Such a request shall be in writing and shall include a statement as to the dates the unit member wishes to begin and end the leave.
