Unpaid Leave - Affecting Seniority and Benefits. Any employee granted unpaid leave of absence totalling up to twenty (20) working days in any year shall continue to accumulate seniority and all benefits and shall return to their former job. If an unpaid leave of absence or an accumulation of unpaid leaves of absences carry into the next month, the employee shall have the option of continuing their benefits into that next month provided the employees makes such request and provides the Employer with post-dated cheque(s) for their share of the benefit cost prior to the commencement of the leave. Employees on unpaid leave for WCB, medical, compassionate care, family responsibility, jury duty, education leave, maternity, parental and adoption reasons shall continue to accumulate seniority.
