Unpaid Leave - Affecting Seniority and Benefits. An employee granted unpaid leave of absence totaling up to twenty (20) working days in any year shall continue to accumulate seniority and all benefits and shall return to job and increment step, if applicable. If an unpaid leave of absence or an accumulation of unpaid leaves of absence exceeds twenty (20) working days in any year, the employeeshall not accumulate seniority or benefits from the twenty-first day of the unpaid leave up to the last day of the unpaid leave and upon the employee's return to work such employee shall accumulate seniority and receive credit for previously earned benefits. If the leave of absence does not exceed six (6) months the employee may maintain coverage for health care plans provided in this agreement by paying the employee's and the Employer's share of the premiums for such coverage in advance on a month to month basis.
