Common use of Unpaid Parental Leave Clause in Contracts

Unpaid Parental Leave. (a) An employee is entitled to a period of up to 52 weeks unpaid parental leave in respect of the: (i) birth of a child to the employee or employee’s partner; or (ii) adoption of a child who is not the natural child or step child of the employee or employee’s partner; is under the age of sixteen; and has not lived continuously with the employee for six months or longer.

Unpaid Parental Leave. Unpaid Parental Leave. (a) An employee is entitled to a period of up to 52 weeks weeks’ unpaid parental leave in respect of the: (i) birth of a child to the employee or employee’s partner; or (ii) adoption of a child who is not the natural child or step child of the employee or employee’s partner; is under the age of sixteenfive (5); and has not lived continuously with the employee for six (6) months or longer. (b) An employee may request the employer to extend the period of parental leave to which the employee is entitled under subclause 47.2(a) for a further consecutive period of up to 52 weeks.

(a) 47.2.1 An employee is entitled to a period of up to 52 weeks weeks’ unpaid parental leave in respect of the: (ia) birth of a child to the employee or employee’s partner; or (iib) adoption of a child who is not the natural child or step child of the employee or employee’s partner; is under the age of sixteenfive (5); and has not lived continuously with the employee for six (6) months or longer. 47.2.2 An employee may request the employer to extend the period of parental leave to which the employee is entitled under sub-clause 47.2.1 for a further consecutive period of up to 52 weeks.
