A female employee is entitled to a period of Employee may take unpaid special maternity leave if she is not fit for they are unfit to work during that period because: she has as a pregnancy-result of a pregnancy related illness; illness or she has been pregnant, and if the pregnancy ends within 28 weeks of the expected date of birth of the child otherwise for a reason other than by the birth of a living child, within twenty-eight (28) weeks of the expected birth date (for example, if a child is still born).
5.3.2. An Employee who takes unpaid special maternity leave shall still be eligible to take the full twelve (12) months’ unpaid parental leave.

A female employee is entitled to a period of unpaid special maternity leave if she is not fit for work during that period because: because she has a pregnancy-pregnancy related illness; illness or she has been pregnant, and the pregnancy ends within 28 weeks of the expected date of birth of the child otherwise than by the birth of a living child.
35.9.2. An employee must give the Employer notice of the taking of unpaid special maternity leave as soon as practicable and advise of the expected period of leave.
35.9.3. The Employer may require that the employee produce a medical certificate to establish that special maternity leave is necessary.
