Use of Accrued Sick Leave. Earned or advanced sick leave will be allowed when an employee is unable to work because of illness, pregnancy, or injury. Unused sick leave may be accrued indefinitely. Accrued sick leave will be converted to service credit for retirement purposes based on the appropriate retirement system regulations and formula.
