Utilization of Family/Medical Leave Benefits. Before commencing unpaid FMLA leave, the employee must exhaust his/her accrued paid-vacation days and personal days. Additionally, when FMLA leave is taken due to the employee’s own serious health conditions or the birth, adoption or placement of a child, the employee may, at his/her option, use some or all of his/her sick days before commencing the twelve (12) week unpaid FMLA leave period.
