Vacation Charges. Employees who use vacation shall be charged only for the number of hours they would have been scheduled to work during the period of absence. In no instance, however, shall vacation leave be granted in increments of less than one-quarter (1/4) hour except to permit use of lesser fractions that have been accrued. Holidays that occur during vacation periods will be paid as a holiday and not charged as a vacation day. Employee vacation accruals earned while on paid leave may be used by the employee with the approval of the supervisor without returning to work prior to the use of such accrued leave. Should an employee become ill or disabled while on vacation, vacation leave shall be changed to sick leave, effective the date of the illness or disability, upon notice to the employee’s supervisor. In the event of a disability or hospitalization of those listed below, and the employee’s attendance is necessary while the employee is on vacation, vacation leave shall be charged to sick leave, effective the date of the disability or hospitalization upon notice to the employee’s supervisor. Upon such notice, employees may be requested by the Employer to furnish a medical statement from a medical practitioner. If requested by the Employer, such statement shall be provided as soon as possible after the illness, disability or hospitalization occurs.
