Common use of Verification of Sick Leave Clause in Contracts

Verification of Sick Leave. The Court may require medical certification or other substantiating evidence of illness for any period of time for which sick leave is sought. Medical certification or an absence of a single day will be required only if a pattern of abuse or excessive use of sick leave exists which requires said certification. During negotiations for a successor MOU between the parties, the Court shall have the authority to require a doctor's note for any employee calling sick on a day where the absentee rate for current represented employees goes above twenty percent (20%).
