Common use of Voluntary Part-time Benefits Clause in Contracts

Voluntary Part-time Benefits. (a) The Hospital agrees to provide part-time nurses with the option of participating in any and all of the group health and welfare benefit programs set out in Article 17 of the central agreement, subject to the terms and conditions of the plan and any enrolment requirements. It is understood and agreed that participating nurses will pay the full amount of monthly premiums. (b) Part-Time nurses who retire and have not yet reached age 65 may elect to continue their participation in group health and welfare benefit programs. (c) Actively employed nurses will pay their monthly premiums through the payroll deduction process, unless on an authorized leave of absence, in which case payment is to be made through post-dated cheques. Post-dated cheques are to be dated the first day of the month, and received by the Hospital prior to the commencement of the leave. (d) The Hospital will notify the Union of the benefits costs to part-time nurses in January of each year and each time the benefits costs are renegotiated by the Hospital.
