Violence Prevention and Control. (a) Violence shall be defined as any incident in which a nurse is abused, threatened or assaulted during the course of his/her employment. It includes the application of force, threats with or without weapons and severe verbal abuse. The Hospital agrees that such incidents will not be condoned. Any nurse who believes he/she has been subjected to such incident shall report this to a supervisor who will make every reasonable effort to rectify the situation.

The parties agree that such incidents will not be condoned. Any employee who has been subjected to such incident shall report this to a supervisor. The Employer will take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the worker. The Employer in consultation with the Joint Occupational Health and Safety committee shall develop written policies to address the management of violent behaviour.
