Volunteer Weekend and Extra Shift. Effective January 1, 2024, the volunteer weekend and extra shift stipends will be revised to reflect the following amounts: Nursing: 1. $100 stipend per full shift (six to eight hours) for any employee who is scheduled to work 32 hours or more in a workweek; 2. $50 per full shift (six to eight hours) if any employee is scheduled to work fewer than 32 hours in a workweek. Employees volunteering for partial shifts (three or more hours) shall receive fifty percent (50%) of the stipend as outlined above. Non-Nursing: 1. $80 stipend per full shift (six to eight hours) for any employee who is scheduled to work 32 hours or more in a workweek; 2. $40 per full shift (six to eight hours) if any employee is scheduled to work fewer than 32 hours in a workweek. Employees volunteering for partial shifts (three or more hours) shall receive fifty percent (50%) of the stipend as outlined above.

  • Volunteer Firefighting Leave Leave without pay will be granted when an employee who is a volunteer firefighter is called to duty to respond to a fire, natural disaster or medical emergency.

  • Volunteer Leave Subject to operational requirements as determined by the Employer and with an advance notice of at least five (5) working days, the employee shall be granted, in each fiscal year, a single period of up to seven decimal five (7.5) hours’ of leave with pay to work as a volunteer for a charitable or community organization or activity, other than for activities related to the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign. The leave will be scheduled at a time convenient both to the employee and the Employer.   • Paid Holidays – Long Weekends (a) When an employee is scheduled to work a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to also schedule the employee to work the paid holiday. (b) When the employee is scheduled off on a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to schedule the employee off the paid holiday. (c) In the event of a scheduling conflict, 12.07 (a) will be the deciding provision.

  • Reasonable Overtime (a) There is a requirement to work reasonable overtime. Subject to that requirement being met, it is not compulsory for an Employee to work overtime in a particular case. (b) On jobs where overtime is necessary, the work crew may be rostered so that each Employee is not disadvantaged as to the amount of overtime worked (subject to the Employer being able to maintain appropriate levels of coverage as required to meet operational needs). On any day that overtime is worked there will be no necessity for all Employees on that particular job to work. (c) Excessive overtime shall not be worked. It is agreed that every effort shall be made to eliminate excessive overtime and create as many employment opportunities as possible. Any suggested and agreed measures to address this shall be discussed by the persons covered by this Agreement and reviewed regularly on all projects throughout the life of this Agreement.

  • Shift and Weekend Premium (a) An employee shall be paid a shift premium of eighty-five cents (85¢) per hour for each hour worked between the hours of 1500-0700 hours. (b) Effective July 1, 2013, an employee shall be paid a weekend premium of one dollar ($1.00) per hour for each hour worked between 2300 hours Friday and 2300 hours Sunday, or such other forty-eight (48) hour period as the local parties may agree upon or as defined in the Collective Agreement. If an employee is receiving premium pay pursuant to a local scheduling regulation with respect to consecutive weekends worked, the employee will not receive weekend premium under this provision.

  • EMPLOYER AND UNION SHALL ACQUAINT NEW EMPLOYEES The Employer agrees to acquaint new employees with the fact that a Collective Agreement is in effect and with the conditions of employment set out in the Articles dealing with Union Security and Dues Check-off. The Employer agrees to provide the name, worksite phone number, and location of the new employee's xxxxxxx in the letter of hiring. Whenever the xxxxxxx is employed in the same work area as the new employee, the employee's immediate supervisor will introduce her to her xxxxxxx. The Employer agrees that a Union xxxxxxx will be given an opportunity to interview each new employee within regular working hours, without loss of pay, for thirty (30) minutes sometime during the first thirty (30) days of employment for the purpose of acquainting the new employee with the benefits and duties of Union membership and the employee's responsibilities and obligations to the Employer and the Union.
