Xxxx of Academic Affairs. In the event that the matter is not resolved at Step 1, the faculty member(s) shall reduce the grievance to writing, stating concisely the facts upon which the grievance is based and when they occurred, specify the provision of the Agreement which allegedly has been violated, the relief sought, and sign the grievance. Such grievance shall be presented to the Xxxx of Academic Affairs within ten (10) days after the discussion in Step 1 above. Within ten (10) days after a grievance has been presented to the Xxxx of Academic Affairs, they shall arrange a meeting to discuss the grievance with the grievant and, if requested by the grievant, with an Association representative. The Xxxx of Academic Affairs shall render a decision in writing to the faculty member within five (5) days of the completion of the meeting.

Xxxx of Academic Affairs. Xx. Xxx Xxxxxxxx (LT) Xxx Xxxxxxxx earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology from UC Xxxxx, then while, working at the UC San Diego School of Medicine obtained a Master’s Degree from San Diego State University in Biology. After twelve years of medical research he accepted a position as the first full8time faculty in science at San Diego Miramar College, growing the science program. Early in this new career, he finished a second Master’s Degree in Educational Technology from National University. He has been an early adopter and trainer in Instructional Technology, teaching courses online and using video conferencing to teach simultaneously at two campuses. He served four years on the Statewide Academic Senate Executive Board where he oversaw technology issues, chaired the committee which wrote the first guidelines for online instructional quality, served as a co8chair of the Distance Education Technical Advisory Committee, founding member of @ONE, worked with the development of the California Virtual University and chaired an Inter8segmental Conference on the Articulation of Technology Enhanced or Delivered Education across the CCC, CSU and UC systems. He worked as a Faculty on Loan to the State Chancellor's Office, for two years, to coordinate the development of the Technology II plan for the CCC. Returning to his home district the San Diego Community College Chancellor assigned him 50% classroom and 50% faculty leadership for technology and online education where he taught other faculty how to develop courses and use technology. After twenty years as a faculty member, he accepted a position as Xxxx of Math and Sciences at MiraCosta College, where he was responsible for not only natural sciences but behavioral and social sciences as well. During his nine years as Xxxx, he worked closely with the curriculum committee, especially around issues of online education as well as serving as the Xxxx of Faculty Evaluation, helping faculty create ways to evaluate online instructors. He has taught online courses and continues to teach two face8to8face courses as an adjunct in his retirement.
