Modified Duty definition

Modified Duty means that one or more essential functions of the employee’s job are changed by the City, in its discretion, consistent with the recommendations of the employee’s health care provider or the City’s designated physician. An employee on modified duty may continue in the same position but with different or fewer duties or reduced schedule, or may be assigned to a different position or even a different department or work unit at the City’s discretion.
Modified Duty means the assignment of an employee to work with medical restriction of duty either in the employee's regular class or in another class in the fire department during any period in which the fire fighter would otherwise be eligible for injury leave benefits. Unless otherwise specified herein, words used in this Agreement shall have the same meaning as are given them in Section 6-3-1 of the 1971 Code of Ordinances in effect on April, 1983.
Modified Duty means a temporary assignment of job tasks (not necessarily within his or her normal job classification nor within his or her normal department) which is compatible with an Employee's medical restriction(s) and supports an early return to full duty.

Examples of Modified Duty in a sentence

  • Management agrees to adhere to the City’s policies with regard to the Citywide Temporary Modified Duty (Return to Work) Program.

  • If continued Modified Duty is granted, the member shall continue the work-out schedule as described above.

  • If the member is not granted continued Modified Duty status, the member shall be allowed to use accrued paid time off or leave without pay until he or she passes the CSFE within the time frame required by this section.

  • The employee has been released to temporary Modified Duty or Light Duty for the injury/illness in question, and the employee cannot be accommodated under ADA or the Connecting to Work Program.

  • Modified Duty - It is the policy of the City to encourage employees to return to work as soon as possible.

Modified Duty means a temporary Administrative Assignment for a person who is recovering from an injury and/or illness and is unable to perform the essential functions of their job.
