Examples of Underinsured Patient in a sentence
Underinsured Patient: An individual, with private or public insurance coverage, that (i) does not provide coverage for medically necessary or emergency services, (ii) has exceeded the maximum liability under his/her insurance coverage, or (iii) has a copay or deductible assessed under the patient's insurance contract for whom it would be a financial hardship to fully pay the expected out-of-pocket expenses for medical services provided by MHS.
Under-insured Patients An "Under-insured Patient" is an insured patient with “high medical costs.” These are insured patients whose family income does not exceed 350% of the FPL and has either (1) incurred or whose family has incurred annual out-of-pocket costs at the hospital that exceed 10% of the patient’s family income in the prior 12 months or (2) incurred or whose family has incurred annual out-of-pocket costs with other providers that exceed 10% of the patient's family income in the prior 12 months.
