Welder Special Class definition

Welder Special Class means a welder who, in addition to satisfying the requirements of a Welder 1st Class, is required to and is competent to apply general trade experience in welding all the following classes of metals: mild steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminium, copper, brass, die cast metal and magnesium.

  • Level 3 – Instrumentation Tradesperson, Advanced Mechanical Tradesperson (i), Welder Special Class I*, Refractory Bricklayer, Employees required to supervise tradespeople or coordinate and plan work, and/or appointment to this level by the employer after completing the necessary training modules for level 3 as prescribed in schedule 2, and where such additional skills are required by the employer.

The purpose of this procedure is to allow all parties access to a system to discuss and resolve grievances and disputes. Whilst this procedure is being followed work must continue normally (without stoppage, ban or limitation), until settlement is reached. Neither party to the issue shall be prejudiced as to the settlement of the issue by the continuance of work. The agreed procedure is detailed below.
