Common use of Acquisition of Seniority Clause in Contracts

Acquisition of Seniority. Each new employee shall be hired as a probationary employee until the end of a probationary period of sixty (60) working days. The probationary period may be extended by mutual agreement between the District and the Union. Upon completion of such period, employees shall be considered as regular employees and shall have seniority dating from their date of hire. There shall be no requirement that the District reinstate or rehire probationary employees if they are discharged during the probationary period.
