Additional Parental Leave. 9.4.2.5.1 Upon written request, a faculty member shall be entitled to a leave of absence without pay of up to twelve (12) consecutive months in addition to statutory requirements. Statutory requirements are as follows: - birth mothers 52 weeks - birth fathers 37 weeks - adopting parents 37 weeks 9.4.2.5.1.1 A faculty member shall notify the College with as much notice as possible in advance of the commencement date of the leave. 9.4.2.5.2 Leave taken under this provision shall commence: 9.4.2.5.2.1 for the birth mother, immediately after the end of the leave taken under the pregnancy and parental leave provisions unless the College and the faculty member agree otherwise. 9.4.2.5.2.2 for the birth father, after the child’s birth and within fifty-two (52) weeks of the birth. 9.4.2.5.2.3 for an adopting parent, within fifty-two (52) weeks after the child is placed with the parent.
