Administration of Steps. Progression through the ranges will be made annually (January) or alternatively, if provided by the Schedule, semi-annually (January and July) as follows: (a) Satisfactory performance: one (1) step increase (b) Superior performance: one (1) step increase as above, plus one-half (1/2) step increase (c) Sub-standard performance: withhold one-half (1/2) step increase or one (1) step increase as appropriate. Review at mid-year for further action.

Administration of Steps. (a) Progression through each range noted (*) will be made on the basis of one (1) step following completion of each twelve months actually worked. All other classifications contained in the Schedules shall be administered as follows: (i) Except as described in (ii) and (iii) below, progression through the ranges will be made annually on the basis of one (1) step following completion of each year's service in the position. (ii) Where an employee accepts a position in a higher wage range under the condition of obtaining specific educational requirements, progression through the steps will not begin until the educational requirements are met. (iii) An employee hired into the Technician Trainee, Distribution Operations position will progress from Step 1 to Step 2 following completion of six (6) months of service and will progress from Step 2 to Step 3 following completion of nine (9) months service. (iv) An employee hired into the Technician Trainee, Distribution Operations position will move to the Step 1 rate of the Technician, Distribution Operations classification within one week of meeting the following requirements: • Completion of all written and practical assessments outlined in the Company’s TTDO Curriculum; and • Passing a TTDO qualification exam. The Company will administer a TTDO qualification exam upon the employee’s completion of the TTDO Curriculum and twelve months of service in the Technician Trainee, Distribution Operations position. The TTDO Curriculum assessments may be challenged at any time. The employee may challenge the TTDO qualification exam at any time following completion of the TTDO Curriculum. Both the TTDO Curriculum assessments and the TTDO qualification exam are subject to the condition that a maximum of two (2) challenges may be made for each and will be scheduled on a date mutually agreed upon by the employee and the supervisor. If, upon the completion of twelve (12) months of service the employee fails to complete the TTDO Curriculum, the Company commits to provide training in those areas identified as deficient or extend the assessment period until training has been made available. If the employee fails to successfully complete the TTDO Curriculum upon conclusion of the extended assessment period, the employee will be given three (3) months to secure another job for which they are qualified for within the Company, under the terms of the Collective Agreement, should such a position be available.
