Common use of Annual Sick Leave Conversion Clause in Contracts

Annual Sick Leave Conversion. Each calendar year, an eligible member may convert sick leave to vacation leave and/or cash, pursuant to the following formula: Number of Total Hours of Accrued Sick Leave Total Number of Hours Eligible for Conversion 1,000 – 1,499 24 1,500 and above 40 ** The total number of sick leave hours accrued are those hours as of December 31. A member must give notice to the Chief of Police by January 15 of the following calendar year. The payout shall be made on or about February 15 of that year and shall be based on the rate of pay from the previous year. Members hired after January 1, 1998 shall not have sick leave earned with an entity other than the City counted for purposes of this Section.

Employees with 1,000 to the following formula: Number of Total Hours of Accrued Sick Leave Total Number of Hours Eligible for Conversion 1,000 – 1,499 24 1,500 and above 40 ** The total number hours of sick leave hours accrued are those hours as of December 3131 may cash in an additional eight (8) hours of sick leave. Employees with 1,500 or more hours of sick leave as of December 31 may cash in an additional sixteen (16) hours. A member must give notice to the Chief of Police by January 15 of the following calendar year. The payout shall be made on or about February 15 of that year and shall be based on the rate of pay from the previous year. This provision shall become effective in 2011 based on sick leave balance on December 31, 2010. Members hired after January 1, 1998 shall not have sick leave earned with an entity other than the City counted for purposes of this Section.
