Common use of Authorization for Leave Clause in Contracts

Authorization for Leave. ‌ Authorization for or denial of a leave of absence shall be furnished to the employee in writing by the supervisor. All requests for a leave of absence shall be answered by the supervisor promptly, including, upon request by the employee, a statement of the employer’s intent regarding whether or not the employee’s position will be filled permanently. No leave of absence request shall be unreasonably denied and no employee shall be required to exhaust vacation leave accruals prior to a leave of absence except as required under Section 5B, Personal Leave. When the Employer approves an unpaid leave of absence for an employee, the Employer shall advise the employee in writing of the steps the employee must take to continue insurance coverages.
