Authorization for Overtime Pay. Overtime will be worked only when the department head or designate has requested that overtime be worked. Compensation for overtime shall be paid at two (2) times the employee’s regular hourly rate for hours worked to the next one-half hour.

Authorization for Overtime Pay a) Overtime will be worked only when the Department Head or designate has requested that overtime be worked. Compensation for overtime shall be paid at two (2) times the employee's regular hourly rate for hours worked to the next one-half hour. Overtime shall normally be paid, but if there is mutual agreement between an employee and the Department Head or designate, equivalent time off may be taken to a maximum of thirty-five (35) hours in any one calendar year. Overtime taken as time off in lieu shall be equivalent to the number of hours for which she/he would have been paid, to a maximum of thirty-five (35) hours in any one calendar year. The time off in lieu shall be taken within twelve (12) months of the date the overtime was worked at a time mutually agreeable to the employee and the Department Head or designate. Time off in lieu which is not taken within that twelve (12) month period shall be paid out to the employee at the end of that period.
Authorization for Overtime Pay. No employee shall be permitted to work overtime unless such overtime has been authorized in advance by a manager or supervisor. However, overtime must be paid when authorized or done with the knowledge, actual or constructive, of any manager or supervisor (except for employees with 7-I exemptions).
