CASH PAYMENT IN LIEU OF VACATION LEAVE. For persons employed after January 1, 1956. a. An employee who accrues vacation leave pursuant to subsections 13A(1), and who leaves the County service for any reason shall be paid at the biweekly or hourly rate for each classification as set forth in Appendix “A,” for unused vacation accrued to the date of his/her separation provided that such entitlement shall not exceed the employee’s applicable maximum vacation balance as set forth in subsection 13C. b. Employees shall have the primary responsibility to schedule and take sufficient vacation leave to reduce their accrued vacation leave balances to a level which will avoid a downward adjustment. The Agency/Department Head shall make a reasonable effort to accommodate written vacation leave requests submitted by employees which state that the purpose of such request is to reduce accrued vacation leave balances to a level which will avoid a downward adjustment.
