Cessation of Annual Leave, Transition Time Period to Use Annual Leave. A. Effective upon adoption of this MOU, employees will no longer accrue annual leave. Instead, employees will accrue sick leave and vacation time pursuant to Article III, Section 1 and Article IV. B. Except as modified in C. below, annual leave that has been accumulated prior to the adoption of this MOU may be retained, provided however, that an employee who needs to use sick leave or vacation must first use accrued annual leave prior to use of sick leave or vacation, until all annual leave has been taken. C. An employee with at least 10 years of continuous full-time County service (20,800 regularly scheduled hours) who has annual leave balances may elect to use a maximum of 80 vacation hours during each fiscal year for approved time off. D. During the 90 day period beginning 30 days after the adoption of this MOU, employee will have a one-time opportunity to convert annual leave that has been accumulated prior to the implementation of this MOU to sick leave, provided the conversion does not result in the employee exceeding the 1500 hours cap for sick leave.
