Common use of Civic Duty Clause in Contracts

Civic Duty. An employee who serves during his/her regularly scheduled work time as a subpoenaed witness or otherwise is required (under penalty of fine or arrest) to appear before a judge or other legal tribunal in a case in which the employee is not a party, as a witness for the Company, or as a petit juror shall be paid the difference between the employee’s basic wage rate and the amount received for such service. An employee required to appear before a judge or other legal tribunal in a case in which they are a party must use earned paid time off to attend. In the event the employee has no earned paid time off, the employee shall be excused from work without pay.
