CLASS SIZE AND PUPIL/TEACHER RATIO. The Board recognizes certain educational advantages in carefully managing both class size and overall pupil/teacher ratios. The Board further recognizes that a wide range of factors impact conditions for teaching and learning, and that decisions impacting class size and pupil/teacher ratios need to take into account all relevant factors including but not limited to scheduling, curriculum content, teaching resources and technologies, student characteristics, enrollment patterns, and financial resources. The Board agrees that it will endeavor to maintain pupil/teacher ratios consistent with the guidelines outlined below, taking into consideration the financial resources of the District and the availability of competent staff and facilities: K - 3 at 25 to 1 4 - 6 at 30 to 1 Secondary academic at 30 to 1

While districting and grouping considerations and influx of pupils during a school year may restrict equitable distribution in classes throughout the school system or within a particular school, average class size will be planned as follows: Grade Levels Desirable Range Grades 1 and 2 20 – 24 Grades 3 through 6 22 – 26 Secondary Academic Classes 24 – 28
