Computation of Cooperative Work Experience/Independent Study Service Rate. Computation of percent of parity for the Lab and NonInstructional Service Rate schedules shall use the hourly rates at Step 2. 1. Hours comprising a full load. Lab: 35 weeks x (15 equated hours ÷ lab load factor) If the lab load factor = .75, then a full load of lab courses for a year is: 35 x (15 ÷ .75) = 35 x 20 = 700 hours. 2. Parity. Parity compensation for this service for a full load is 70% of Column 2, Step 5. For Cooperative Work Experience, a full time assignment is 250 students per year. Parity is therefore: (.70 x Column 2 Step 5) ÷ 250 For Fall 2004: .70 x $56,849 ÷ 250 = $39,794 ÷ 250 = $159.18 per student 3. Hourly rates % of parity.Lab: 100 x (Current hourly rate Step 2) / (Parity ÷ Annual hours) In Fall 2004: 100 x ($40) ÷ ( $39,794 ÷ 700) = 100 ÷ ($40 ÷ $56.85) = 70.4 % of parity NonInstructional: (Current hourly rate Step 2) ÷ (Parity ÷ Annual hours) In Fall 2004:100 x ($36) x ($39,794 ÷ 1120) = 100 x ($36 ÷ $35.53) = 101.3 % of parity 4. Average the % of parity for hourly lab and noninstructional rates. In Fall 2004: (70.4% + 101.3 %) / 2 = 85.9 % 5. Apply the average of lab and noninstructional % of parity to the parity rate per student in step 2 above. In Fall 2004: $159.18 x .859 = $136.74 Round to the nearest dollar: $136.74 = $137 per student.
