Common use of Critical Illness Leave Clause in Contracts

Critical Illness Leave. Employees shall be allowed up to five (5) days per year out of accumulated sick leave to care for a member of the immediate family who has a critical illness. The immediate family shall be defined as the employee's spouse, parents, children, mother-in-law, or father-in-law. Any other unique situations or a request for more than five days would have to be approved in advance by the Superintendent or his/her designee, and the response would not be subject to the grievance process.
