Daily and Weekly Hours of Work. The Hospital does not guarantee any hours of work per day or days of work per week with respect to any employee covered by this Agreement. The normal or standard work day for full time employees shall be seven and one-half (7 ½) hours exclusive of an unpaid meal period. The normal or standard work week for full time employees shall be thirty seven and one-half (37 ½) hours averaged over a two week scheduling period. The normal or standard daily hours of work for part time employees shall be up to seven and one-half (7 ½) hours exclusive of an unpaid meal period. All authorized work performed in excess of seven and one-half (7 ½) hours per day or thirty seven and one-half (37 ½) hours per week averaged over a two week scheduling period, or such scheduling period as otherwise mutually agreed in any one unit or department, will be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1 ½) the employee’s regular straight time rate of pay. Those employees working the shift when the change from daylight saving to standard time, or vice versa, occurs, shall be paid straight time for the exact number of hours worked during the shift. (a) Work schedules will be posted two (2) weeks in advance and cover a four (4) week period. The Hospital will endeavor to schedule shifts for part time employees on as equitable a basis as is practicable subject to the employee’s availability and the Hospital’s ability to operate within their specific operational requirements. (b) There will be minimum of sixteen (16) hours scheduled off between shifts when changing shifts, unless for reasons beyond the control of the Hospital. Time and one-half the employee’s regular straight time rate of pay shall be paid for all authorized hours worked during such sixteen (16) hour period, unless otherwise agreed to by the employee, Union and the Hospital. (c) Whenever practicable, employees (except those in the maintenance department) shall not be scheduled to work more than seven (7) consecutive days. (d) At least one weekend will be scheduled off in each two week period for full time employees. The Hospital shall schedule each regular part time employee at least one weekend off in each three week period. Should a part time employee work on her scheduled weekend off, she shall receive premium payment at time and one-half of regular wage rate for all hours worked on such weekend, save and except where: (i) such weekend has been worked by an employee to satisfy specific days off requested by such employee; or (ii) such employee has requested weekend work, or (iii) such weekend is worked as a result of an exchange of shift with another employee. (e) Any changes to the posted work schedule will be brought to the attention of the employee concerned.

In the case where employees are required to rotate on the day, evening and/or night shifts, the Hospital will endeavour to arrange shifts such that there will be a minimum of twenty-three (23) hours between the beginning of shifts and change over of shifts, and of thirty-nine (39) hours if there is one (1) day off, and of sixty-three (63) hours if there are two (2) days off between the change over of shifts. In scheduling shifts the Hospital will endeavour to arrange schedules so as to provide for a two minimum of eight weekends off in every twenty-four week scheduling period, and, in any event, at least one weekend off in each three week period. (e) Any changes ; or the Hospital is unable to comply due to a prohibition against scheduling split days off. It is understood and agreed that there shall be no pyramiding of overtime premiums under the provisions of the Collective Agreement arising out of the foregoing undertakings. The foregoing shall have no application where other scheduling arrangements are provided acceptable to the posted Employer and the employees affected and approved by the Union. It is understood that normal hours include those required to accommodate the change from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time and vice versa to which the other provisions of the Articles dealing with Hours of Work and Overtime do not apply. It is further understood that the amount of regular pay for a full normal shift worked shall not be affected by reason of the change in the number of normal hours worked consequence of such change from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time and vice versa. The provisions of this Article are intended only to pro- vide a basis for calculating time worked and shall not constitute a guarantee of hours of work schedule will per shift or per week or for any period whatsoever nor a guarantee of working schedules. No employee shall be brought scheduled to work more than six consecutive days. The Hospital may allow an exchange of shifts at the request of two (2) employees provided that its approval is obtained in advance and that no additional cost to the attention Hospital results from such exchange of shifts. Employees shall not be required to change tour of duty more than once during a week. Employees who regularly rotate shall not be scheduled to work a night shift before a scheduled weekend off. The Hospital agrees to allow a five (5) minute period at the employee concernedend of each seven and one-half (7 hour shift.

It is understood that regular hours include those required to accommodate the change from daylight saving time to standard time and versa and to which the provisions of Article not apply. Employees must report to their respective supervisors in uniform and remain in uniform for the full working shift. Each employee shall be allowed thirty minutes for meals on his own time and such thirty minute period shall normally be a continuous uninterrupted period of time. The Hospital will decide when the meal periods are to be taken by the employees. Employees' work schedules shall be posted two weeks in advance of the schedule becoming effective where practicable. Employees will be entitled to two rest periods of fif- teen minutes duration per shift whereby one will be scheduled each full half scheduled shift. The Hospital will decide when the rest periods are to be taken by the employees. In the case of departments where employees are required to rotate on the day, evening and/or night shifts, the Hospital will endeavour to arrange shifts such that there will be a mini- mum of twenty-three (7 ½23) hours exclusive between the beginning of an unpaid meal shifts and changeover of shifts and thirty-nine (39) hours if there is one day off and sixty-three hours if there are two days off between the changeover of shifts. (e) Any changes ; or the Hospital is unable to comply to a prohibition against scheduling split days off. R-est -Periods All employees will be allowed two week scheduling periodrest periods per day of fifteen minutes duration without reduction in pay and without increasing the regular working hours. Other employees who do not make a written commitment shall be employed on a relief or replacement basis and are available for call-half (7 ½) hours exclusive ins as circumstances demand. Failure to be available as provided for in the above undertaking may result in the employee not being offered further work and the removal of his/her name from the part-time roster. Exchange of Shifts The Hospital may allow an unpaid meal period. All authorized work performed in excess exchange of seven and one-half (7 ½) hours per day or thirty seven and one-half (37 ½) hours per week averaged over a two week scheduling period, or such scheduling period as otherwise mutually agreed in any one unit or department, will be paid shifts at the rate request of time and one-half (1 ½) the employee’s regular straight time rate of pay. Those two employees working the shift when the change from daylight saving to standard time, or vice versa, occurs, shall be paid straight time for the exact number of hours worked during the shift. (a) Work schedules will be posted two (2) weeks provided that its approval is obtained in advance and cover a four (4) week period. The Hospital will endeavor to schedule shifts for part time employees on as equitable a basis as is practicable subject that no additional cost to the employee’s availability Hospital results from such exchange of shifts. It is understood and agreed that absence due to illness certified by a Doctor's certificate, or any approved leave of absence will not be considered as a failure to meet the commitment given to the Hospital’s ability to operate within their specific operational requirements. (b) There will be minimum of sixteen (16) hours scheduled off between shifts when changing shifts, unless for reasons beyond the control of the Hospital. Time and one-half the employee’s regular straight time rate of pay shall be paid for all authorized hours worked during such sixteen (16) hour period, unless otherwise agreed to by the employee, Union and the Hospital. (c) Whenever practicable, employees (except those in the maintenance department) shall not be scheduled to work more than seven (7) consecutive days. (d) At least one weekend will be scheduled off in each two week period for full time employees. Should a part time employee work establish the on-call list on her scheduled weekend off, she shall receive premium payment at time and one-half of regular wage rate for all hours worked on such weekend, save and except where: (i) such weekend has been worked by an employee to satisfy specific days off requested by such employee; or (ii) such employee has requested weekend work, or (iii) such weekend is worked as a result of an exchange of shift with another employee. (e) Any changes to the posted work schedule will be brought to the attention basis of the employee concernedemployee's seniority. The Scheduling Committee will consist of equal representatives from management and Union. Terms of reference to be established at the Union-Management Committee meeting.

The employer may allow an unpaid meal periodexchange of shifts at the of two employees provided that its approval is obtained in advance and that no additional cost of the employer results from such exchange of shifts. All authorized work performed Definition of Time Rate of Pay For purposes or calculating any benefit or money payment under this Agreement to which an employee is entitled, the regular straight time rate is that prescribed in Schedule of this Agreement Authorized time worked in excess of seven and one-half (7 ½) the normal daily hours per day or thirty seven and one-half (37 ½) normal hours per week averaged over a two week scheduling period, or such scheduling period as otherwise mutually agreed in any one unit or department, will of the Hospital shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1 ½) times the employee’s regular 's basic straight time hourly rate for all authorized overtime work in excess of pay. Those employees working the shift when the change from daylight saving to standard time, or vice versa, occurs, shall be paid straight time for the exact number of hours worked during the shift. (a) Work schedules will be posted two (2) weeks in advance and cover a four (4) week period. The Hospital will endeavor to schedule shifts for part time employees on as equitable a basis as is practicable subject to the employee’s availability and the Hospital’s ability to operate within their specific operational requirements. (b) There will be minimum of sixteen (16) hours scheduled off between shifts when changing shifts, unless for reasons beyond the control of the Hospital. Time seven and one-half the employee’s regular straight time rate hours in a tour of pay shall duty or seventy-five hours in a bi- weekly period, it being understood, however, that no overtime will be paid for all authorized hours where the time worked during such sixteen (16) hour period, unless otherwise agreed to by the employee, Union and the Hospital. (c) Whenever practicable, employees (except those in the maintenance department) shall not be scheduled to work more than seven (7) consecutive days. (d) At least one weekend will be scheduled off in each two week period for full time employees. The Hospital shall schedule each regular part time employee at least one weekend off in each three week period. Should a part time employee work on her scheduled weekend off, she shall receive premium payment at time and one-half of regular wage rate for all hours worked on such weekend, save and except where: (i) such weekend has been worked by an employee to satisfy specific days off requested by such employee; or (ii) such employee has requested weekend work, or (iii) such weekend is worked as was a result of an exchange of shifts between employees. It is understood and acknowledged that the Hospital has the right to require employees to perform reasonable authorized overtime work. Call back shall not be considered as hours worked for the purpose of this Article. Overtime premium will not be duplicated nor pyramided nor shall other premiums be-duplicated nor pyramided nor shall the same hours worked be counted as part of the normal work week and also as hours for which the overtime premium work overtime will not be required to take time off in regular hours to make up for overtime worked. Employees who report for any scheduled shift with another employee. will be guaranteed at least four (e4) Any changes of work, or if no work is available will be paid at least four (4) hours except when not available due to conditions beyond the control of the hospital. The Reporting Allowance outlined herein shall not apply whenever an employee has received not less than one (1) hour's prior notice not to report for work Standby pay shall, however, cease where an employee is called to work, and works during the period of standby. effective April effective April Where employees are called back to work after having completed a regular shift and prior to the posted commencement of their next regular shift they shall receive a minimum of four hours of work schedule will be brought or four (4) hours pay at the rate of time and one-half regular hourly earnings. Where call back is immediately prior to the attention commencement of their regular shift, the call back pay will only apply to the point of commencement of a regular shift at the rate of time and one-half after which they shall revert back to the regular shift. Call back pay shall cover all calls within the four (4) hour period provided for under (a). If a second call takes place after four (4) hours have elapsed from the time of the first call, it shall be subject to a second call back premium, but in no case shall an employee concernedcollect two call back premiums within one such four (4) hour period, and to the extent that call back and extends into the hours of his shift.

Daily and Weekly Hours of Work. The Hospital does not guarantee any hours of work per day or days of work per week with respect to any employee covered by this Agreement. The normal or standard work day for full time employees shall be seven and one-half (7 ½) hours exclusive of an unpaid meal period. The normal or standard work week for full time employees shall be thirty seven and one-half (37 ½) hours averaged over a two week scheduling period. The normal or standard daily regular hours of work for part time all employees shall be up to seven and oneaverage seventy-half five hours (7 ½) hours exclusive of an unpaid meal periods) in a pay period. The intent of this clause is as far as possible to provide for a five day work week with two days in seven off duty, and where possible the days off to be consecutive. It is understood normal hours include those required to accommodate the change from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time and vice-versa. It is further understood that the amount of regular pay for a full normal shift worked shall not be affected by reason of the change in the number of normal hours worked in consequence of such change from Daylight Saving Time to Standard Time and vice versa. In scheduling shifts the Hospital will to arrange schedules so as to provide for a minimum of eight weekends off in every twenty-four week averaged over a two week scheduling period, or such scheduling period as otherwise mutually agreed and, in any event, at least one unit or departmentweekend off in each three week period. Where a weekend off is not granted within a three week period, will time worked on such third weekend but not subsequent weekends shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half (1 ½) the employee’s regular straight time rate of pay.
