Common use of Deduction of Union Membership Fees Clause in Contracts

Deduction of Union Membership Fees. (i) An employee may request and have NPWS deduct from their salary, on a fortnightly basis, an amount to be paid to a specified union as membership fees. Any variation to the deduction amount for union membership fees shall be provided to NPWS at least one (1) month in advance of the variation taking effect. (ii) NPWS will deduct the specified union membership fees on a fortnightly basis from the pay of any employee, provided that the employee has given written authorisation for NPWS to make such deductions. (iii) Monies so deducted from the employee’s pay shall be forwarded regularly to the respective union together with all necessary information to enable the union to reconcile and credit subscriptions to the employee’s union membership account. (iv) Where an employee has already authorised the deduction of union membership fees from his or her pay prior to this clause taking effect, nothing in this clause shall be read as requiring the employee to make a fresh authorisation in order for such deductions to continue.
